Taoist Meditation

When you are practicing Taoist Meditation, you are searching for an inner peace within yourself. When there are so many things that your mind is responsible for such as times that things have to be done, hard talks to be had with the family, plans to be created for a party; whether they are positive or negative things, your mind is constantly on the go. This can make for sleepless nights or physical health related illnesses. When practicing Taoist Meditation, you are quieting all of those things and creating a peace within yourself. In doing so, you will quell your mind and prepare it for sleep or you will reverse the adverse health affects stress is causing for you.

Taoist meditation is a type of meditation where there is some movement typically involved. Similar to Tai Chi Meditation, your body moves in order to create a synthesis with your inner state. Each side is opposing the other. All weight rests on one leg while the other is moving. One arm moves up and the other moves down. Movement is very slow and thought provoking. Your body works slowly in sync with your mind which is focused and concentrated on your breathing. Your reflection and contemplation leaves your everyday concerns and focuses solely on your breathing patterns.

In your deliberation to accomplish Taoist Meditation, you are moving spiritually and you are moving physically. Though a very slow and low impact one, this is a form of physical exercise as well as mental. You are physically working your body as you twist and turn your muscles. Your mental concentration will work itself into a physical concentration on the muscles that are being used as you go through the movement of Taoist Meditation.

Taoist Meditation is centuries old. A strong belief in the central power and practice of breathing and attention to breathing techniques has been around for a long time. As well as using it for meditation techniques, women are taught to use some form of it as they are breathing through the pain of childbirth. The movement is not there in labor, but the practice of breathing correctly and focusing on the breathing alone is certainly there.

When we draw our thoughts to that of meditation, it is common to think of non-movement. A person sitting with their legs crossed in the lotus position, and humming gently to themselves. But there is a whole other world of meditation practice that encourages movement as well as breathing in order to align yourself to your thoughts. Taoist Meditation is one of these practices. The benefits that will come from achieving inner peace through concentration and movement will be felt for your lifetime to come.
