It’s only human to find yourself judging others but have you ever met someone and thought they were rude, only to realize later that they were actually a very kind and genuine person?

Did you feel bad for judging them wrong?

If you have, don’t beat yourself up… just anchor the moment of realization and learn the lesson.

I was told recently about a man who was sitting on a train reading his Sunday paper. A lady across from him was playing solitaire and other passengers were either reading newspapers or books. The atmosphere was very peaceful and relaxing until a man stepped onto the train with three children. The children were boisterous and being very loud and the dad seemed oblivious to the disruption they were causing.

The man, growing more irritated by the minute put down his Sunday paper, walked over to the dad who was texting on his  phone, and said “Excuse me sir, do you see that your children are misbehaving?”. The dad stopped texting and looking rather dazed said “Oh, I’m sorry. We’ve just come from the hospital, where my wife has just died. I guess I’m having a little difficulty dealing with this right now, and so are my children.”

The man felt dreadful and his perspective of the situation immediately changed.

Granted, this was an extreme case of pre-judging a situation, however, we all pre-judge others at sometime or another.
