    Hey all :)

I have been doing meditation for about 2 months for about 15 min pr day.
A problem with my eyes has occured. I do meditation with eyes open. I used to stare at a specific point on the wall, but as the starriing took too much of my focus from meditation, I have just naturally gone over to not starring at a specific point and just let my eyes be "out of focus". I have done this for a couple of weeks. recently I noticed that my eyes were kind of tired and soar and I had problems with focusing. This has continued for 3 days now. Im very sure this is caused by meditation, it's like my eyes have gotten used to be out of focus, like when I do meditation. I feel the tiredness and heaviness very clearly when i am at the computer, reading or just trying to focus with my eyes on an object. When meditating I have just begun to feel it's strain for my eyes. I make sure that the lighting is good where i am meditating- either daylight or bright light. I should probably menchen, that I use glasses and meditate with glasses on ( I don't know if it has anything to do with it). Also- it did feel more natural for my eyes to focus on a specific point, but it made it hard to concentrate.

    - Anyone with simillar experiences or advice? Should I change my technique, is it something temporary that I should just ignore? Please tell me if you know something :)
    Thanks .

I really need some advice. have been off meditation for 5 days now and i miss it alot, but i am affraid to damage my eyes. Please if you have any advice on how to avoid this in the future or how to relieve the eye strain please tell me :)

Sorry for the delay replying, I've been away a few days.

Using open eye focused meditation can be very strainful on the eyes especially if you are having to force your eyes to remain open whilst trying to relax (not a natural thing for the physical body to do).

Have you tried a different form of meditation? How about downloading the free "Discover Meditation" CD's from the link at the top of this forum and give that meditation style a go, which is based on using a mantra rather than an open eye focus?

    Hugs
