    Anyone who can help?
I am trying to burn 'me myself and the universe' to disc. I have been to FAQ and followed the instructions.
I burned the disc making sure I chose the option of a disc to play in a CDplayer, I extracted the files, I did the burn everything seemed fine - but when I tried to play the disc - no sound. I tried it in the CD R player on the computer - no problem. I have tried 3 times - my disc burning is hit and miss - sometimes this happens and sometimes it is fine - can't work out what it is that makes the difference

    Anyone have any ideas?

I'm most grateful for any pointers.
    peace and joy:)

    Hi HazelKay,

I think this maybe caused by one of two things.

If you have burnt the CD from the .mp3 file you’ll need to play it on a CD player that can understand the mp3 format as this is a different format to standard CD format. I presume you computer CDR is mp3 compatable, a quick internet check on the stereo you’re using should tell you if it can play mp3's.

Also a problem can occur when the computers CD burner not burning the grooves deep enough for some CD players to pick up. I had a problem where I’d burn a CD and some mp3 enabled CD players would notice/play the CD and other wouldn’t, also I noticed that these CD’s were more liable to jump if the CD encountered movement (eg in my car CD player).

If you’re doing this to make the tracks portable (rather than back them up), then maybe a cheap mp3 player would do the trick? I used to have one that’d work with the Sony headphones recommended by this site and it did the job nicely.

Hope that helps :) (if not at least you have lifeflow to help dissolve some of the frustration ;) :D).

    Paul :)

    thank you

    Hi Mr Monkey,

The player must be compatible as I have managed to burn other mp3 files. I think it must be not burning properly sometimes as I can't spot anything different that I do when it is successful to when it isn't.

The most frustrating aspect is that when the cd is burned and does not work it is rendered useless as it becomes 'read only' by the technology used. They are cheap cd's from the supermarket - memorex - does the quality vary?

many thanks fro replying, Im very grateful:D

    X-mini

Here's another Q for anyone with more knowhow than me on the audio devices side - not difficult!

I have an X-mini device - the size of an orange which I can connect to my mp3 player to hear items without headphones. The sound quality is fine, but I think it is probably not stereo - could be wrong about this!

So the question is - can I play my lifeflow files through this and still get the entrainment benefits?

many thanks to anyone who can help:)

    Hi Hazel,

There are 3 types of "beats" on the lifeflow tracks, Binaural, Monaural and Isochronic. Stereo Headphones are required to get the benefit of the Binaural beats, but for the other two these can be listed to without headphones and, from my understanding, don't require stereo either, so in that case, yes you would still get some of the benefit of the entrainment from the tracks.

As for your problems burning the MP3 tracks to CD, as long as you are burning them as Music CD's rather than Data CD's then it should record ok, especially if you've done it before and it's worked. The two possbile issues are... low quality CD-R's or misalignment/technical failure (could be partial failure) of your CD burning drive. Can you try burning some other MP3 file (from a completely different source) to a disc and see if that works. I doubt it's the MP3's that are a problem, especially if you're able to listen to them on the computer.

    Hugs

    Giles

    Hello again :),

There are two types of writable CD’s, ‘write once’ which are normally labelled CD-R and ‘rewritable’ which are normally labelled CD-RW. As you aware the ones you’re using fall into the first category which can unfortunatly waste a load of CD space and a bit of money. The ‘rewritable’ ones enable you to write more than once to a CD (but you’ll never be able to remove/delete files you've burnt onto the CD).

I’d be surprised if there was much variance within a pack from the same supplier but stranger things have happened. They'd differ between suppliers because as with most things, you normally get what you pay for, so maybe get a couple of more expensive CD’s and see how you get on?

Having said all that, if you have used the same types/brand of CD-Rs, the same CD burner and the same stereo then this is a bit of a head scratcher . As you say you’d expect it to either work all the time or not work at all so there must be some subtle variation somewhere. I could only speculate where that could be (the software your using, the settings of the software, steps you follow each time, etc), so I can’t offer much more help :(.

    Paul :)

PS: Just seen Giles's response, but thought I'd throw this in the mix anyway :D
