I was wondering if, once alpha has been established whilst listening to Lifeflow 10 brainwaves are able then to move to theta and then possibly delta. Or are the beats arranged so as to keep you in alpha ? Does that make sense ? Great course. Thank You. _/\_

Thanks for that Edwin. Really useful information. I hadnt read it before. To rephrase my question though. If suppose you were moving into theta whilst listening to lifeflow 10, would you be 'nudged' back into alpha by the structure of the cd ? Bit academic i know but it would be interesting to know. _/\_

    Tough question.

You see, the brain has it's own "divisions" so to speak. Every part of the brain has allready been at every level before we start meditating. However, let's say an artist is really good at painting, while painting the creative part of his brain that is involved in painting will probably allready have reached Theta, the brainwave that is most creative. The rest of the brain however might be active in Beta or Alpha.

What we are talking about in terms of brain entrainment is made with Whole Brain Synchronisation, which means that the whole brain is trying to establish communication between the left and the right hemisphere.
This is such a unique process that I seriously doubt that anyone will have experienced this without brain entrainment, no matter how experienced the meditator.

So your question is a bit academic in my opinion, because the LifeFlow technology helps you to achieve more successfull whole brain connections during meditation, and as such you are, no matter how experienced you are a meditator, only a rookie, and have to start from scratch.

Yes, you would. Entrainment would work in either direction to get the brain to hold on its targeted frequency. If the brainwaves are above the target the entrainment draws them down. If they are below the target the entrainment pulls them upwards. A fixed 10 hertz track like LF-10 would draw the brain to, or close to 10 hertz meaning the track would always be working against your straying too far in either direction from its set frequency.

    LF10 "end-of-track drift down"

    Hi Graham,
I am new to LifeFlow with a brief exposure to TM back in the 70s. I am almost at the 60 day point of LF10 and have found a delightful aspect of LF10 in my last few sessions that relate to this thread.
What I find is an amazing "deepening drift down into a calm peace" as I focus on the mantra, breath and heatbeat after the track gently ends.

This sensation must be the feeling of the brainwaves being "released" from the 10hz Alpha and allowed to drift lower aided by the mantra.

It is amazing to feel this totally "light bodied" calm with a "drifting deeper" feel that just "rocks".

What a rush....I even refused the offer of some beers at the Ottawa Senators hockey game last night (wife was amazed :D:D) since I knew it might affect my meditation (Michael advises many hours free of drugs and alcohol before sessions).

Very, very pleased with the start of my LF aided/meditation journey :):):):)

    take care all

Jim, I am glad you are feeling so good :)

you might have some setbacks along the way, but I can assure you that the meditation sessions, and everyday life in between will only get deeper into that sensation of calmness !

    Meditate every day ! :)
