Default need help getting back into it

When i about five months ago, meditation came very naturally, i would breath heavily and focus on images of candles, ancient settings, incense. i have no idea why that helped me but it did. sometimes i would even use mantras like 'peace', 'strength', 'power', etc. i really had no idea what i was doing, but i felt a great level of calmness and peace in my life.

NOW in my new house i find meditation to be such a complicated thing. i can't seem to silence my mind, i can't seem to be able to LET GO of everything like i used to be able to. Its hard to let everything go with the stresses of everyday life.

i find it so difficult to STOP thinking about my girlfriend, our relationship, work, co-workers, stressful situations, etc.

any tips or advice?
any advice is appreciated. just so i can get back into that flow

Have you downloaded the free Discover Meditation cd's from Michael? I would recommend them if you haven't.

Also, you may like to try the free sample Lifeflow demo and have that playing whilst you meditate as it may help to create a good initial focus to take your mind away from those 'other' things so you can get back to a state of calmness and better into your meditation practice.

Alternatively, there are also some guided meditations you could try... (also free)...

Perhaps the "Deep Relaxation" one?

Hi, sirensong,

Moving is supposed to be one of the most stressful experiences we go through. Can you designate a small space, even a corner, for your meditation practice -- something at a slight physical and psychological remove from your busier (and possibly still unsettled in) life? Also, while meditating it can be helpful to just barely note the appearance of any intrusive thought, and then return to whatever mantra or focus you've chosen to signal your intent to meditate. By "barely noticing," I mean neither pushing it away nor engaging it. Just notice it and allow it to move on through -- as HazelKay has said elsewhere, like bubbles coming to the surface of water.

I'm glad you've joined the forum and look forward to hearing more from you.

Margaret
