Hi Lilybaby,

Are you referring to spam email messages?

If so, this will depend on what program or website you view your email messages on, and whether your email provider offers any spam filtering for you. It can also differ depending on whether you have certain software installed e.g. McAfee Security Suite, which can monitor your emails for you and remove seemingly spammy messages, or quarantine them into a Quarantine folder.

Things like Hotmail, have a setting so that you only get mail from people in your address book delivered to your inbox and anything else goes to your Junk folder.
Other web based emails either do nothing to prevent spam or have something in place to mark suspicious emails with e.g. "* SPAM *" at the start of subject line.

There are many different methods and means of dealing with spam, and it will depend on your own individual setup on your computer and who you have your email setup with.

As for these forums, they tend to remain spam free, no doubt due to the vigilance of PollyAnna and the other moderators. I'm a moderator on another forum and I know that spam messages are one of the big things we constantly have to deal with to keep the forums tidy. Fortunately, we have means and ways of determining if some of the new members signing up are likely to be spammers and we can sometimes stop them before they've even finished registering on the site.

Hugs

Giles
