Default Amazing experience

Went over to the U.K. about 10 days ago at very short notice. My nephew rang me on Friday 19th August looking for a good home for a nine month old lovely tempered, male Japanese Akita puppy. I explained I needed to sleep on it as it was a huge decision.

I had been considering getting a large dog for a month or so and had been looking on the internet just that afternoon at this particular breed and German shepherds also. I bought an Irish Redsetter about 36 years ago and a German Sheperd 24 years ago.

My main concern was that I have grandchildren and will have more in the future. Anyway, the next morning I decided that I would book the ferry and spend a few days with the pup and his parents and realised that "I would know when I see him"

Nothing could have prepared me for the moment I met him. My nephew owns a pub and as we drove up, he was sitting outside at one of the tables with this HUGE and beautiful dog. My instinct was to be as "present" as possible when I first met him and as I was introduced to him it felt absolutely amazing. As he looked into my eyes, I knew we were meant to be together. I've loved all my dogs but never experienced this amazing and instant connection in my life - we're like soulmates and share a deep love for each other. I feel like he has landed from heaven and when I brought him into the grounds at home, he thought he had arrived in heaven.

I really think being present plays a big part in this special connection. Anyway, he's laying on the rug on his back with his giant paws in the air, listening to Nirvana, while I type. Just wanted to share this amazing experience with you, unfortunately, words cannot describe the amazing feelings. I wish you much peace and joy.

Great story Pollyanna. There is a movie doing the rounds here in Australia called "Red Dog" - a story about an Australian Kelpie. I have a black one. They are a fantastic role model for living in the moment!! Enjoy every second...

Thankyou for your lovely messages - I will look out for the film olmate - we're going to watch the film "Hachi a dog's tale" with Richard Gear one evening soon. He has been called Samson for nine months Hazel so I'm happy to keep his name although it may get shortened to Sam at times. Thanks again and I wish you all peace and joy
