Default Which book influenced your mind the most?

Hello, I am glad to join this community!
Would you like to exchange thoughts about the major books in your life?
I am not sophisticated in meditation so far but I want to broaden my mind. So, please, give me a piece of advice.

As for me, I've just finished reading one book by a Ukrainian author A. Obraztsov. It is read so simply that it looks like "light" reading. Nevertheless, such deep issues are touched! I was truly fascinated. Did you hear anything about this book? It's title "A Crossing or the Drop's history".

Hi Rosamunda and welcome to the Project Meditation community,

Would you like to exchange thoughts about the major books in your life?
I would say that's a difficult one for me to answer... because all the books I have read have added to my knowledge in their own way.

The Celestine Prophecy (James Redfield) series of books have been good... even though they are not well written by any decent standard, but rather because the model of understanding they convey is very valid and gives an interesting perspective on the nature of people and the world.

The Four Agreements (Don Miguel Ruiz) is another great book. It's only a small book, but it succintly helps to give another perspective for looking at the way we perceive things and change our attitute to things.

One City (Ethan Nichtern) is yet another, looking at Interdependance from a somewhat buddhist perspective, and makes you think about every action you take, and the things we take for granted.

Then there are books on non-duality, quantum physics, spirituality etc. and all sorts that I have read... all fantastic books in their own way... some with some bits that just aren't logical and can be dismissed, some that are fluffy 'new age' with no premise or solid background to back them up, but some that really do make you think and are essentially the same as what other books tell us, just using different terminology and a different model to look at things.

I haven't read that book you mention, though I'll look it up if I get a chance (I still have a pile of books yet to read).

Hugs

Giles

Its always good to share book tips. Especially if you´ve read them a while ago, that gives a more "objective" view.

I have 4 books:

4th: Castaneda, because it had such a big influence when i was about 18, and showed me that theres more to life then we think. Doesnt reflect my actual point of view though.

3th: Siddharta (Hesse), i just love this book.

2th: Eckhart Tolle´s books are just great.

1th: Waking from Sleep (Steve Taylor) - single best book ive ever read so far regarding enlightement.

The 3 Robert Monroe books, as well as books by William Buhlman, and "My Big Toe" by Tom Campbell are some that stand out for me.

Of course John Lilly has put out extensive material.

I have been moving into sociology, psychology and psychosis reading all of R.D. Laing's & Robertson Davies material.
