Default Now that I am more aware... what then?

Hi, all.

I have read various places that Lifeflow and meditation is supposed to help us release repressed feelings so we can deal with them. I am confused as to how this is supposed to work.

I have recently started on Lifeflow 8. (I spent about two months on Lifeflow 10 and one month on Lifeflow 9.) Over the last months I have become much more aware of my negative thoughts than before. In the last week especially, I have noticed a lot of negative thoughts and feelings. Feelings of resentment, envy and unworthiness. Lifeflow might have had a hand in bringing up these emotions, or they might just be normal.

At any rate, I don't know what I am supposed to do with them. Now I am aware of a lot of thoughts and feelings. What am I supposed to do to "deal" with them?

From a Law of Attraction perspective, I would like to focus on the things I desire and evoke the feeling of having the things I desire. I notice myself often dwelling on thoughts about the lack of things I want. I try to shift my attention away from "scarcity" thoughts and towards thoughts of "abundance". But that doesn't always feel like the right thing to do.

I am confused about what to do with all this awareness. Can anyone say something?

Thanks in advance!

Spectrum

Being aware brings the ability to release them. And may i quote god:

"Choose Joy"

(From the book "I knew their hearts")

But how?

I can give my attention to the negative feeling and express it. Or I can deliberately shift my attention away from it and reach for better-feeling thoughts. Both approaches sometimes work for a while, but it seems the negative thoughts always return.

Hi Spectrum,

There are a couple of aspects to consider.

The first is becoming aware of the various emotions, feelings and even points of view. Uncovering them in the full light shows them up for what they are. Once you have a full awareness of what is there (which can take some time), the second context becomes available.

The second context is volition. As Pan says, you can then make choices about what is laid bare.

Sometimes (certainly in my case), it became clear that I was carrying stuff around that had been handed down from previous generations, stuff I decided to rail about for reasons which now completely escape me and stuff that I developed views about that have very much evolved through life experience, spiritual growth and increased awareness.

But the exercise of volition does very much become available and you can make decisions and choices.

But don't feel you have to rush to the second context. Have a really good look at what is going on...

Hope that helps...

olmate

Everyone has its own approach, you have to find the one which suits you best.

If you emotionaly feel bad, you have to remember its your thoughts that make you feel bad (that also counts for physical pain, but thats another story).

So what to do with negative thoughts? Just let them be. Be there, be aware of them, but dont hang onto them. Dont let your focus get attracted by them. Just let them be. Thats what you learn in meditation, isnt it? Stay aware in the moment, but dont hang on to any thoughts.

But as we arent enlightened yet, there are still some negative thoughts that create negative feelings.

So what to do with those negative feelings? Just let them be. Be there, be aware of them, but dont try to manipulate them in any way. Our first reaction to negative feelings is to surpress them, mostly by distracting ourselfs from them (addictions like tv, internet, drugs, alcohol, work, etc.). But this way, they wont get released. To release them, we have to be there, be aware of them, feel them and accept them.

Hope this helps in addition to olmate´s approach.

Atb,
Pan

I was musing on a few things last night about time and eternity.

It's kind of a long story ... but short ... have a listen to the words of the 1960's song by the Byrds, Turn, Turn, Turn (to everything there is a season). It was was from the peace movement around the Vietnam war but also has its roots in scriptures (Ecclesiastes).

Muse on the words a bit, that may also help too.

Smile The stories we tell ourselves

For me to deal with negative emotions I need to stop living the stories that they convey to me. I've done some therapy similar to Richard Moss Md's books and it has been very helpful. Books such as "Inside-out healing" and "the mandala of being". I have anxiety and panic attacks so, for me, watching negative emotions floating by doesn't work. I have to be more pro-active.

I've checked out those two books and look really good, I'd never heard of Richard Moss so thanks for posting
