Default Can't get into any sitting meditation posture

Hello guys,

I am having this problem that I can't get into any sitting meditation postures. The problem is not such kind of flexibility, but that my back is slouched while engaged in a sitting posture. I was doing meditation last year several months and didn't experience such problem (either I was sitting with a slouched back and didn't feel it, or I managed to sit actually straight). The back is not becoming slouched in time while in meditation, but I just can't have my back straight. Maybe it's easier to explain with pictures:

This is what I want to achieve:

and this is what happens:

While it looks almost straight, I have to struggle all the time very much to keep it in such position, and eventually I end up slouching/or just thinking about how to keep a straight spine.

I have no idea what happened since last time, but so far I only see a possibility to meditate sitting on a chair. Suggestions and any other help is very appreciated.

Hey, I'm going through the same thing I think, if I understand your plight correctly...

But I try not to sweat it too much... If it's anything like playing guitar, then it takes a couple weeks to build the muscle strength to be able to do it correctly.

I don't think the position matters *that* much, so until you get back in the swing of it, just do your best and try not to think about it... The pain from forcing the position will eventually go away during the session (if that's a problem) and if you slouch a little you can always re-position yourself without attaching yourself to the thought of sitting correctly constantly. Just fix it when you see it

Hope that helps \m/

Have you considered using a meditation stool and Panthau does on this thread...

When sitting to meditate what is the best position?

There are also kneeling type office chairs (sometimes called "back chairs" or they go by other names), which offer a similar posture.

Different positions will suit different people.

Hugs

Giles
