Question Letting go.. too often?

I would like some opinions.

I've been meditating by using just a simple "letting go" technique. Whenever a thought arises, let go. Whenever anything happens, let go.

The problem, is it's taking over.

Sometimes I want to play a computer game, but instead I Let Go.
Sometimes I want to play my guitar, but instead I Let Go.
Sometimes I want to go for a swim, but instead I Let Go.

Should this Letting Go be taking over my interactions with the external world?
I feel like I could Let Go from everything and go full monk style.
I also feel like another path to take is enjoying the journey of life and enjoying manifestation.

Anyone get me?

Hi Jmate,

From where I am your approach/method doesn’t seem a useful approach to just let go of every thought, in that you seem be using “let go” as another way of saying “ignore” or “don’t respond to”.

What happens when the thought such as “I need to pay my rent”, “I better get up for work/college”, "I should tidy up this dump of a place” come up, ignoring this type of though could get you into a bit of a pickle

Remember, your mind can be a helpful so ignoring everything it says might not be a good thing – not being attached to what it says is probably a more helpful/productive way forward.

Cheers, Paul
