Yep, they have sort of shot themselves in the foot in that respect, though they will teach it for less money or even free to those who can't afford it, however they don't make that obviously apparent. The increases in the costs are what caused a lot of their teachers to leave the 'organisation' and go independant and teach the same methods under different names for more reasonable prices.
Fortunately for me I came accross the Discover meditation which as far as I'm aware is very similar to transcendental meditation.

Absolutely, it's essentially the same meditation technique, just without all the ceremony (and costs) of TM.
I have done 4 sessions so far and I have enjoyed them but I am not sure if they are being done correctly.
I understand that we are not meant to purposely repeat the mantra in our head but bassically be aware of our mind repeating it on it's own withinout any consious effort. Is it natural to only hear it like once every 40 seconds amongest other thoughts going on? Sometimes it feels that way.

You're correct that the aim is to not purposely repeat it, but when starting the meditation, it's often useful to just repeat it consciously and regularly within the mind and this will act to take you away from any other thoughts that are an immediate distraction, and then you can just start to let it go it's own way. It's normal that you can go a while without the mantra repeating, and thoughts arise, but simply, when you become aware of this, just invite the mantra back and let it start repeating again, and there's no need to concern yourself with how long your thoughts have been there (otherwise you are thinking about the time and that in itself is a distraction).
Also can I use brainwave entrainment with discover meditation? Does anyone here recomend it?

LOL! the whole website recommends it... hence the Lifeflow entrainment tracks on offer. Though I would say it's a good idea to get used to meditating for a while (perhaps another month or two) so that you can play the entrainment tracks whilst meditating and more easily learn to just let the tracks play without putting any focus on them (which is common it seems for people new to meditation trying to do entrainment straight away).
Hope that helps
