Instead of using coping mechanisms like watching the television,
over-eating, smoking, drugs, alcohol abuse etc, which only suppress and mask our confusion, fear and pain we need to learn how to raise our tolerance levels through meditation.
By raising these levels we alleviate current stresses and deep rooted traumas.
Using anger as an example, if someone’s tolerance level is set on 2 on a scale of 1-10, it would not take a great deal for this tolerance level to be reached and for the sufferer to completely feel overwhelmed by inner rage.
With regular meditative practice, it is possible to raise the anger tolerance level to 10 over a period of time and
the benefits of this are profound.
By simply raising these levels, the stimuli which act as an anger trigger point is now unable to cause any disruption at all.
Raising our tolerance levels so that they are safely greater than those of the demands surrounding us is an extraordinary concept which works amazingly.
With high tolerance levels you can enjoy a wonderful life.
As an analogy, think in terms of a river bursting its banks. Too much rainfall has exceeded the river bed’s maximum capabilities, the water floods the surrounding landscape until finally the rain ceases and the water levels can eventually recede and go back to normal. If the banks are not widened however, then the same situation is likely to occur, time and time again.
