Would you really want to? How many times have you really wanted something and been disappointed, only to realize at a later time how fortunate you were not to have received what you wished for? Ever pay attention to the lyrics of this Garth Brooks song?
Just the other night a hometown football game
My wife and I ran into my old high school flame
And as I introduced them the past came back to me
And I couldn't help but think of the way things used to be
She was the one that I'd wanted for all times
And each night I'd spend prayin' that God would make her mine
And if he'd only grant me this wish I wished back then
I'd never ask for anything again
Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers
Remember when you're talkin' to the man upstairs
That just because he doesn't answer doesn't mean he don't care
Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers
She wasn't quite the angel that I remembered in my dreams
And I could tell that time had changed me
In her eyes too it seemed
We tried to talk about the old days
There wasn't much we could recall
I guess the Lord knows what he's doin' after all
And as she walked away and I looked at my wife
And then and there I thankedd the good Lord
For the gifts in my life
Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers
Remember when you're talkin' to the man upstairs
That just because he may not answer doesn't mean he don't care
Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers
Some of God's greatest gifts are all too often unanswered...
Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers
Not that we shouldn't strive for those things we think would be to our benefit. But we should be wildly grateful that most desires take time to manifest and don't come to us instantly otherwise we would all end up with a boat load of things we thought we wanted and only later discovered how really bad they were for us.
As things work now, once we start the process of manifesting we still have time to observe the process, fine tune it, make adjustments, or even abandon our plans if we come to realize they really aren't in our best interest.
But if things were instant... Think of driving down the road and having some rude driver cut you off and give you the bird for your trouble. In your mind you reflexively think to yourself how you hope that idiot rolls his car around the next corner... Ooops, too late to take it back. His car rolls and maybe he dies because you manifested something on an impulse, before your brain actually kicked in and tempered your desires.
Instant manifestation would be great if we were intelligent and disciplined enough to always use it properly. Personally, I'm nowhere near being ready for it and I can't think of too many other people who would be, either. Given that instant manifestation would put me at the mercy of every whim anyone had towards me, just or unjust, I'm completely satisfied that manifesting doesn't come instantly.
