Default Accidentally started with LifeFlow 1

I know you are supposed to go from 10 to 1 (by the way, I think that should be changed to 1 - 10... it just sounds more logical. :P)

But I'm feeling very ... frightened at the moment because, without thinking, I listened to whole track and didn't realize I had picked the wrong one until it was over. I am very new to both meditation and brainwave entrainment, but I have learned a bit of how it works.

Do I just start with 10 tomorrow? What can I do to get rid of this feeling?

Hi Gabe and welcome to the community
Here are some snippets I have taken from the “Golden Threads” section and F.A.Q.’s
Please be assured that LifeFlow does not cause the brain to experience any brainwave state outside of its natural capabilities. You experience the Beta, Alpha, Theta and Delta states virtually every day many, many times.

Every night when you lay down to sleep you begin in Beta and descend through all the states down to Delta then come back up again and repeat this whole cycle every 60 to 90 minutes. All each LifeFlow brainwave entrainment track does is encourage the brain to produce the exact same natural frequencies it is going to produce while you sleep.

The difference between using entrainment versus simply going to sleep is that during entrainment you remain conscious whereas during sleep you allow conscious awareness to fade away. And because you release it you are not aware of any feelings that might arise as the various brainwave states develop. During entrainment you remain aware and you recognize feelings and perhaps even a few physical sensations that have always been there but that you were not aware of because the conscious mind was sleeping.

This is very similar to having feelings, thoughts and even physical sensations arise during meditation. It isn't that the meditative state "produced" these things. It simply allowed them to rise to the surface unimpeded by the normal thinking mind, but while awareness is still high. So the experiences that have been simmering down in our depths "seem" to appear because of meditation. But we know those experiences were always there. We were just too preoccupied or too unconscious to notice them before."

Meditation is no different. Some states of consciousness are natural, yet are not common. States like the alpha levels we go in and out of regularly throughout our day and so entering them in meditation feels somewhat more "familiar" than entering a waking state of theta might feel. Because we already have a good deal of experience with alpha it is relatively easy to begin working our meditations towards the alpha levels.

We all know what it feels like to suddenly find ourselves aware that we were lost in a daydream. That was an alpha state. So in the beginning of learning meditation if I tell you that you're going to experience an alpha meditative state you have at least an idea what that experience might be like. But if I said to you, "Alright, Gabe, we're going to start you off right from the beginning learning to meditate at a delta level," you would have no idea at all how that might feel or what to expect. Your chances of successfully entering delta while still awake and then staying there would be greatly reduced.

Instead we start off from something that is a little bit familiar and we build on that foundation. We take the next small step and work at it until it begins to feel familiar as well, then we take another step, then another and another and so on. As each new step becomes familiar and comfortable it becomes a secure foundation upon which to take that next step.

As you are new to both meditation and entrainment, I highly recommend that you Download the free course “Discover Meditation” which is invaluable to learning meditation and Michael will talk you all the way through this. Within a few days you can then continue what you have learned while listening to LifeFlow 10

The benefits of meditation are cumulative and as you become comfortable and familiar with each level you will notice improvements and changes in your daily life. Take your time and enjoy experiencing the many benefits from meditating with LifeFlow.

Here is some good information from Michael Mackenzie on Brainwave states and the benefits. Please click on the following link:-

I wish you much peace and joy on your journey of self discovery

Aside from Polly's wonderful advice...

Consider it like the music charts. When you get to No.1, you know you've reached the top.

But I'm feeling very ... frightened at the moment because, without thinking, I listened to whole track and didn't realize I had picked the wrong one until it was over. I am very new to both meditation and brainwave entrainment, but I have learned a bit of how it works.
That's fine, as Polly's post points out, it won't do anything to hurt you, it just won't have been as effective as having entrained in the correct order. Consider it a bit like you've just climed into a fighter jet and turned on the ignition but hadn't got a clue how to fly the thing, whereas first you should have started by learning to ride a bike.

Do I just start with 10 tomorrow? What can I do to get rid of this feeling?
Yes, just start again with Lifeflow 10.

I think that's the advantage to those of us who obtain the downloadable version rather than the CD version, as the tracks are delivered monthly in the correct order. No worries though, everything sorts itself out in the end.

Hugs

Giles
