Question Technical things

Hi all at support, I have a few technical q's...

I purchased a set of the "pilot" style headphones you suggest and they have a noise-cancelling feature. I'm currently on LF8.

1. I used to use the earbuds style but even with those I could hear a loud hum in the background (sometimes so loud that it was in the foreground!) rising and falling in each ear. I guess that's the "binaural frequency"? I could also hear a very high pitched sound like radio static or high pitched cicadas. With the new earphones these sounds are so loud that they're louder than the music/water etc and unless I turn the sound level right down so that I can hardly hear it, it makes me feel sick. Has something happened in the download process so that there's something wrong with the recording? Does this mean that I'm not receiving the benefit, or worse, that I'm hurting myself?

2. I tried the noise-cancelling button when I first bought the headset and the hum is even louder and the music/water etc is even softer so I haven't been using it. I thought it would merely cancel the outside noise and not the sound coming from the earphones, but apparently not - is that right?

3. With Lifeflow 8 (and only with this one) I can hear my heart beating loudly in my right ear only. I've tested all different sitting positions, different Lifeflow recordings with noise-cancelling button on or off and it's the same, except with the noise-cancelling button on, there seems to be fold-back of my heartbeat as well so that it's double-time - a beat in between each beat (I don't think it's my heart doing this. I hope not anyway!) I read the info on the noise-cancelling feature and it produces a frequency that's the opposite pitch so that it cancels out any external noise. Could that frequency interfere with or cancel-out the Lifeflow frequencies? And is it fold-back I'm hearing in my right ear causing the heartbeat to be heard double time? Why am I hearing the heartbeat sound anyway, only on LF 8 and only my right ear? (with the earbuds as well)

4. I've been meditating for years before starting LF - around 30 years using different techniques and until LF8 I couldn't meditate at the same time as listening to LF because it was all so busy and distracting. LF intro, 10, and 9 seem to keep me in a superficial experience where I can't go deeper even if I do my usual techniques. Even with the "heartbeat" LF8 is a bit of a relief although I resolved inside myself that I'd stick with the program and not zip ahead because I felt there was value in starting from the beginning to resolve anything I'd been avoiding with my years of practice. I'm aware that my body/sub-conscious is genius at developing ways to avoid things that I don't want to or can't integrate and that sometimes meditation is an excellent mask for avoidance. But I also know that sometimes this is necessary because I'm not able to deal with something and need to store it for "later." I accept that LF intro, 10 and 9 are a way of going back and integrating stuff I'd stored for later, but the time for "later" had never come.

5. I'm sticking with LF because I think it might be doing something, although I don't feel any pleasurable etc feelings yet. I'm a bit concerned about these things I've asked - maybe I'm not getting the frequencies properly, maybe the earbuds weren't positioned properly, maybe the download has affected the frequencies and now maybe the new headset is changing something...?

Appreciate your feedback...

Default Fortuna, hope this helps!!

I just wanted to check the headphones we actually recommend as I was not aware they had any automatically adjusting settings or a noise cancelling option. We try to recommend standard stereo headphones that do not alter bass, treble, extra filters etc. I have just found the pair we recommend on Amazon (the movie setting must be switched off when listening to the Lifeflow tracks as stated in the FAQ page):

Amazon.com: Sony MDR-XD200 Stereo Headphones: Electronics

I'd also be interested to hear the exact volume of which you listen to your Lifeflow CD's as when you meditate with LifeFlow all the work is done by the entrainment waves which are inaudible to you, or nearly so. The masking soundscape, be it sounds of nature, music, or just melodic sounds such as those developed for Creative Flow, are nothing more than "user's personal preference". You can turn the volume very low and you will still gain the entrainment effects. Have you tried this?

You asked:
"Has something happened in the download process so that there's something wrong with the recording? Does this mean that I'm not receiving the benefit, or worse, that I'm hurting myself?"

You can try downloading it again if you like to put your mind at rest but rest assured, it will not be damaging to you as I'm guessing it is the volume or audio settings. In Lifeflow 8 I have heard quite a few people mention the heart beating sound infact I have at times heard it myself, this is perfectly fine and remeber you can adjust the volume. I'm not convinced of these new noise cancelling headphones as I personally can't comment having never used them. I would prefer to stick with the standard types.

You mention that you have meditated using various techniques for 30 years or so and your next level due to download will be Lifeflow 7. This is the first of the theta targeted entrainment tracks and I think you'll notice a shift in gear with this one !!!

I hope this explains more and please get in touch if you have any further questions or concerns.

Have an outstanding day!!

Namaste.

Jodie

Exclamation Sony MDR-XD200s headphones/minor adjustments

Hi Folks,
Last week my wife became the second owner in our household of the recommended Sony headphones as she has decided to try out LifeFlow .

As I am now on LF9, I just get LF10 as my second session at bedtime. As I took 60 days plus on LF10 to begin with I see a real nice advantage to possibly now be always using the previous level in combination with the next level .

As per the Sonys on a previous post I mentioned that I discovered that the movie/music setting switch does not require much pressure to toggle therefore just handling the phones can cause either ear to be switched to the not recommended "movie" setting. This was resolved by a piece of clear tape over the switch.
Another issue is i found that the hinges can result in a intermittent noise that is transmitted into the ear pieces due to plastic on plastic friction points. That I resolved by just jamming more clear tape around the hinges to reduce the friction movements (turn the adhesive side out ward and form a tube before you wrap the pieces around the hinge joints).
Looks wise it is abit but with eyes closed the sonic quality is all that matters.
Overall very nice low cost, light weight phones that really make a difference with LF10 sonic quality over another pair of "slim" ear piece Panasonic headphones that I use on the exercise bike.

hope the tips help out

take care

jim
