Meditation Room Design

If you are fortunate enough to have an opportunity to create a meditation room in your home, it is worth putting much time and consideration into the particulars of the design.  Meditation room design involves taking the entire environment into account: Noises, décor, furnishings and possible distraction are all points for your contemplation. Your goal should be to create a space that you can go to and instantly begin the meditation process any time of the day you might feel like it.

Color is a very important factor to give some thought to for the space, and different colors affect people in different ways. You wouldn't choose to paint red walls, for example, because this is a color that encourages activity and energy. Shades of pale blue, pink and white are great, and pale green is fantastic. Do some research into basic color therapy and work out what it is you want to feel when you enter the area for your meditation. Room design is really the most important part of meditating at home, so don’t rush in and give it true deliberation.

It can be handy to have a large, full length mirror in the room so you can do some techniques where you use your reflection. Achieving deep rumination while staring into your own soul can be a very effective meditation, and by having the mirror in the room, you can alternate between different techniques.

Rumination and meditation are important as a part of daily life for health enhancement.  Regardless of how physically fit you may be, if you don't allow yourself time for thorough relaxation, their will be negative repercussions to your health. Often, people make choices in life that they regret or try not to make and meditation enables you to access the depths of your subconscious mind so you can reprogram yourself to live the healthy life you desire.

The best way to go about decorating your meditation space is to begin with a plan. Why not do a meditation with the aim of drawing a design from deep within your own creative mind? Simply tell your subconscious prior to beginning the meditation that you want to have a solution for the best meditation room design for your individual needs. When you finish the meditation and return to consciousness you can spend time brain storming and making up a blueprint.

A fantastic idea for a meditation space in your own home is to create an outdoor gazebo area. You can make it fully enclosed with sheer curtains so you can see outside to nature, and a day bed is fantastic to meditate on. Having lots of cushions around for comfort and some light blankets for when it's cool will ensure that no matter what your mood, you can find your niche. Put a few tranquil, peaceful nature pictures on the wall and have either a stereo or an MP3 player for listening to audio programs. An oil burner or some incense goes a long way to help create the mood, and a few books and some fresh water are great for when you are finished but want to still remain in the sacred space. Your meditation room design must be unique to your own needs and preferences, so design it yourself without anyone else's input.

Whether indoors or outdoors, it is important for you to focus on the task at hand, which is achieving deep relaxation in a space created for your own reflection. Many people find simply by making the perfect meditation room design for themselves they obtain much deeper relaxation and inner healing from the first moment they set foot in the area. This is why it is such a fantastic idea to have this space, because the subconscious mind will recognize when you enter that it is now time for blissful quiet, healing and rejuvenating.
