Free Meditation, surely that wont be good for me you may be thinking, or there’s got to be a catch to get free meditation, actually there isn’t. There are many places that you can go to get free meditation lessons or free meditation classes.
Although in saying that, is there a best way to learn to meditate? The best answer I can give you would be yes. The best way to learn to meditate is to find the way that works best for you. If you go into a book store, you will find books and CDs on meditation. If you go to the library, you will be able to find books, CDs and possibly DVDs or videos on meditating and correct posturing and breathing techniques. There are of course classes that you can take. I know that most local chapters of the YMCA offer yoga and meditation classes. The internet is littered with places for you to buy classes, CDs, books, etc.
While most of you will sit and think, meditation is free. It doesn’t cost me anything to sit in my home, garden or yard and meditate. You are right, but that is not what I am talking about. I am talking about meditation tools that are available for free on the internet. Depending on the site, will depend on what they offer. There are sites that offer courses to the beginning practitioner.
So far, I have not found a site that claims that it is free and then tries to make you buy something in order to benefit from the meditation. They truly are free. These sites have lessons that start with how to begin meditating with the basics of finding the right place, the right time and the classes progress from their. It seems that from the overview, the information that they offer isn’t any different then what you find in a book on meditation. They also offer guided meditation that you can play on your computer, you just download and play.
There are free meditation sites, which offer you free meditation techniques. The problem that I found with these sites is that the meditation that they offer is all text and they are very long. They are free, but if you are like me you may find that you are focusing more on memorizing the words and less on the meditation, which is then counterproductive to the meditative process. The benefit to these sites though is they do offer you a lot of needed information when you are looking for a technique to learn, or improve the technique that you currently use.
Deciding on using free meditations or going to a class and paying for it is really going to depend on how you personally learn and feel. If what you need is to be surrounded by others also meditating, guided by a master so that you really get a grasp of the technique and the use of all the positive energy around you then free meditation off the net is not going to help you.
If what you are looking for is help in deciding style to learn, or a more personal experience with your meditation then using the free meditation sites will be a great benefit to you. Meditation is about you finding balance, inner peace and a greater understanding of who you are. So only you can decide if there is a benefit for you with free meditation.
