Meditation ClassThe best way to gain correct knowledge of meditation, especially for beginners, is by attending a meditation class or having a guided audio course. Some people prefer to partake in a group meditation class while others prefer the privacy of their own home. A group meditation class can magnify the benefits of meditation through collective consciousness. Collective consciousness is a process that comes about when a group of minds function in unity to reach a common purpose in meditation. This is only possible in a meditation class that offers a peaceful and serene environment for a group to meditate in. Generally, such classes are held in open spaces with natural, peaceful surroundings or inside a spacious room or hall. A meditation class provides an ideas gateway for those who are new to meditation. By learning and practicing meditation in a meditation class, students can avoid common errors and inculcate a correct understanding. Even the simplest of meditation techniques, such as breathing, requires a basic understanding in relation to the areas of focus. This can be learned under the guidance of a teacher in a meditation class or through a guided audio course. |

A good meditation class is usually presided over by a teacher who has a deep understanding of the meditation methods and their effects. The teacher has the necessary expertise and heightened level of consciousness to choose a specific technique, as well as modify it or combine it with some other method, depending on the need of the student. If meditation students try to learn meditation without the guidance of an experienced teacher either in a meditation class or guided audio course they run the risk of interpreting the method of meditation incorrectly due to inexperience. Books can only impart one-way knowledge.
