Visualizing to achieve what we want with that intention will cancel it?

The secret teaches that we should visualize what we want. However, i read in a random LOA blog(don't remember where) that visualizing with the intention of manifesting it will actually cancel the vibration because it sends a signal that you don't have it. How true is that?

Hope there are experts here who can clarify this.

Hi Bob and welcome to the community :)

I don't claim to be an expert, still this is what I do and recommend...

I believe we are the creators of our own lives and that what we focus on and think about mostly, we bring about.

A lot of people feel trapped or limited by their present circumstances, focus on these and unknowingly create more of the same circumstances. Whatever your current circumstances are, you can change them by changing the way you think.

“ALL THAT WE ARE IS THE RESULT OF ALL WE HAVE THOUGHT” Buddha

Visualization, infused with strong emotions like joy, love, enthusiasm, and gratitude are very powerful aids to create what we desire.

Dr. Denis Waitley, Ph.D, states in The Psychology of Winning…

“I took the visualization process from the Apollo program and instituted it during the 1980s and '90s” into the Olympic program. And it was called Visual Motor Rehearsal: 'When you visualize, then you materialize.' And the interesting thing about the mind is, we took Olympic athletes and then hooked them up to sophisticated biofeedback equipment and had them run their event ONLY in their mind. Incredibly, the same muscles fired, in the same sequence when they were running the race in their mind, as when they were running it on the track. How could this be?

Because the mind can't distinguish whether you're really doing it, or whether it's just a practice. I think if you've been there in the mind, you'll go there in the body.”

When you imagine yourself being, doing or having whatever it is that you desire, and you FEEL as though you have already achieved it, your filtering system will allow you to see opportunities that you would otherwise miss – when opportunities come along, you need to ACT. When you are really focused you become like a heat seeking missile towards your target.
When you become aware of any unhelpful thoughts, you can immediately focus on feeling genuinely grateful for the good things in your current life or what you are visualizing.

Creating the regular habit of feeling deeply grateful for what you already have and what you desire is so exhilarating and should never feel like a task.

Developing an attitude of gratitude is great to do anytime. I do this when I take a shower/bath, when I’m cycling or walking in nature, after meditation and immediately before and after sleep.

“Gratitude opens the door to…the power, the wisdom, the creativity of the Universe. You open the door through gratitude.” Deepak Chopra

“Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all others.” Cicero

I hope this helps and wish you much peace and joy :) :) :)

Ok, well... I'd have to see the actual article/blog you read, but it could be taken as correct or as incorrect, depending on what is actually meant by it.

When visualizing then one should aim for that to be based on the thing you want actually being in the present moment as though you already have it; as if it's already true. That helps the mind to believe it to be true, and then pick up more easily on those things in your daily life that will help it to become true (you become more easily aware of them rather than ignoring them).

If on the other hand you are visualizing that you want to manifest something in the future (rather than the present), then your mind learns that it's something for the future, and it knows the future is always the future, so doesn't treat it, or the things that could lead to it, as something that needs to be 'looked out for' in every moment of life.

As for "vibrations" and "signals" that sounds more like a 'new age' take on the LOA, which isn't really necessary; it sounds like it's trying to make it sound more mystical than it really is.

    ;)
