Default Living for Today!! ;-D

I enjoying going in and reading some of the posts of this forum.....so many people like me who are in search of a better way of life. I'm in the midst of LifeFlow and Project Meditation tapes and have definately experienced improvement in my sense of peace and well-being. One thing I've learned is to BE PATIENT WITH MYSELF, and not think that I "should be at this or that point by now." Many have a difficult time being patient with themselves, including me. Also, I've learned that we're all in the same boat. We're all struggling.

Many have lost touch with the natural rhythm of life. Natural life simply doesn't go as fast as Western society wants us to go. We live in Western societies that demand our unending frantic run on the hampster's wheel just to keep a roof over our heads and provide for our children.

Where does this society slow down? It doesn't.

Which begs the question: WHY are we doing all this? CONSIDER.......

What am I supporting?

I'm supporting the roof over my head (to shield me and my family from weather and intruders/predators) it cost money to maintain.........
I'm supporting clothing to conform to a statu quo society and safeguard my employment because my employer is wed to this statu quo mindset & employment is necessary in a monetary society.

I'm supporting my means of transportation (car to get to work). It costs money to buy gas and maintenence for my automobile......in order to go to work to support myself in order to support my family, in order to support the monetary system to pay me to have money to buy the roof. the clothes my family, the shelter, the food, the gas to get to work, to support the monetary system to pay me to have money to .......do you get the nature of the hampster's wheel? Do you get the nature of the cage you and I are in?

Any of you remember the 60's phrase: "Stop the World –I Want to Get Off"? It's a musical by Leslie Bricusse and Anthony Newley that was performed in 1961. Some of our Grandmothers who were city kids will remember it. Well, folks, I wanna get off. I just wanna experience the nature rhythm of life, of natural life. What a concept!! ;-D

You CAN live for today, you CAN stop the world. Just be getting off the mental and emotional and the psychic grid of our mass media and pop culture. Instead of 2nd Life on computer, watch a sunset. Instead of TV programs at night, look at your spouse or significant other and discuss the day. Wow, actually turn off the TV/computer and go in the back yard and play a game of pitch or hide and seek with your child. If your neighborhood is safe, even take the spouse and kids on a walk through the neighborhood and wave to your neighbors who happen to be out on their front porches in the evening (unfortunately too few in this day and age).

Connecting with other people. What a concept! ;-D

Good post Imagineallthepeople,

If we look close enough and accept the truth, we see, what is really wrong with the world
is what is
 wrong
with each of us on personal level. You rightly point out in your last paragraph, to change, start with yourself and your immediate family.

Changing
 the
 world
is
impossible
if
 you
 do
 not
 change
yourself and
conversely, changing you will have the most
profound effect on changing the
 world.

Peace
