Question Greeetings From Florida & Couple Of Questions

Hi All:

After starting with the intro meditation CDs 1-4, I am now about a week into LifeFlow 10. I seem to be calmer, but I did have some road rage the other day and it really made me think that something (anger) deep within me was coming to the surface. Hopefully that was a one time occurrence. Does meditation bring up some old, buried feelings to the surface?

Also, I find it hard to go a full 40 minutes because I start to fidget. Is it OK to do two 20 minute sessions? Will I still get the same effect as doing a 40 minute session? I've been listening to the last 20 minutes so that the iTunes track ends and I know my 20 minutes is up. Is the last 20 and the first 20 minutes the same on LifeFlow 10?

Last question, all references say to use a headset. Is it OK to use ear buds, like what come with an iPod?

I want to get the most positive benefit from this great program.

I'm grateful,
Wileyman

Hi Wileyman and welcome to the community. Meditation can bring up repressed feelings and sensations, sometimes even things we didn't know we were carrying around with us. Bringing up these hidden things can give the impression to a person that they just "came out of nowhere". You may well be sub consciously resisting whatever is coming up to be released. Whenever you feel any discomfort during or after meditation, it simply means you are resisting and it is the resistance itself that is causing the discomfort.

The solution to resisting is to simply and unemotionally observe your thoughts and feelings with unattached curiosity. Simply accept whatever thoughts and feelings you experience, and simply watch them, unemotionally with great curiosity and indifference. When you unemotionally consciously observe something that is not in your best interest, it will simply fritter away.
Each LifeFlow track begins and ends in the same frequency so listening to the last 20 minutes is fine. Just remember, it takes the brain about 8 minutes to entrain so if you listen for 20 minutes your brain will lock into that particular frequency for about 12 minutes. If you listen for 40 minutes your brain will lock into the frequency for 32 minutes. If you're happy with 20 mins for now, that's fine. Maybe just build up the time gradually.

Michael recommends pilot style headphones for best results. You can pick a set up for about $17 -- ear buds will work though. Hope this helps and I wish you an abundance of happiness and joy on your journey of self discovery
