Default I'm Dave from NY—hey everyone!

Hey All,

I'm Dave from New York, NY... Currently traveling the world and have been in Buenos Aires for the past 3 months (my 3rd time here over the past 2 years).

I've been meditating for just over 4 years now and my life has been changing so much. I started out by doing all sorts of strict practices and following all sorts of "rules," but have now simplified everything into a simple practice of zazen—seated meditation.

What sort of meditation practice has worked for you guys?

Pleasure to be here!

Ciao,
Dave

Hi Dave & welcome,

Personally ive just tried breath and mantra meditation in a time frame of 2-3 years. Never tried zazen, maybe i should read a bit about it.

Have you always used some entrainment or have you come across LF through accident?

Atb,
Phil

Hi Dave,

I've tried many different types of meditation. They all 'work' in one way or another. I quite like group guided meditations/visualisations, if they're done well (there are certainly some that are not), but as a personal practice I haven't found anything better than mantra based meditation (I was taught Dynamic Deep Meditation, but this is essentially the same as what Michael teaches for free with his "Discover Meditation" cd's, and is the same as Transcendental Meditation, without the ceremony).

As you say, there are meditations out there with 'rules' but the truth is that meditation is such a simple thing it doesn't require any rules; that's just various people's/organisation's ways of controlling their 'style' of meditation and trying to make it seem more important/better than others (methinks the ego has got in there somewhere. )

Hugs

Giles
