Default Hello I'm Nigel From The UK!

Hello my name is Nigel and I am from the United Kingdom.

I have used Transcendental Meditation before and am familiar with 'relaxation' techniques.

The concept of 'Mindfulness' was introduced to me by my support workers recently in order to help deal with my medical conditions.

I suffer with bipolar disorder, anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

I have been listening to the Lifeflow sample just over a month and find it helps to calm those racing thoughts.

God bless.

Hi Paul,

I have been using Lifeflow for just over a month now and recently downloaded the meditation course. I now practice daily the Lifeflow with my mantra. I hope this is correct.

Hi Nigel,

It sounds like you doing it spot on; using a mantra technique with LifeFlow (LF) is the way forward .

Looking at your intro I would urge a bit of caution with meditation and LF in that meditation (and LF as the turbo boost for it) can lead you to experience (or maybe I should say dig up) potentially distressing stuff before things get better.

Also my advice would be to try to watch your thoughts during meditation rather than worry if they are going fast or slow. That way you can experience that you’re not your thoughts but that which simply observes them. For now just try not to get involved with them, if they are saying “Nigel’s great” or “Nigel’s rubbish” or anything in-between, they are just thoughts! They will appear and dissolve by themselves. If you do get drawn into thought, don’t worry just start up your mantra again and off you go.

When I started meditating I would worry before, during and after mediation if I am “doing it right” . I would wonder if I am concentrating on the right/wrong things, if I will get benefit out it if I worry, if anyone else has these concerns, plus a whole heap of other stuff. My advice would be to chill out and simply focus on your mantra and everything else will gradually fall into place and make sense over time (although I’m talking months not days!).

Finally, I would suggest if you have any further questions etc, post then in one of the main forums (as I nearly missed your response). You’ll get a sympathetic ear, plus access to some very pleasant and knowledge people! And as a final finally, I would recommend you have a read of this thread >>Principles of Meditation & Entrainment<<, its quite long but very good.

Warm regards,
Paul

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your advice.

I will take your advice on board and do as you suggest...just to focus on the mantra.

I will read the suggested thread.

Many thanks, Nigel
