Default New and excited...but very sleepy (blush)

Hi all, hope i'm using this right. Am a busy mum trying to fit this into my life and i think that its helping. I seem to be considerably less stressed than I normally would be under the current circumstances.

I'm listening to lifeflow 10 but unfortunately most of the time i fall asleep I use it at the end of the day because thats been my only time. I'm hoping that it is of some benefit even when I'm asleep...could someone advise me on this.

Its been amazing the different sounds I hear when I use head phones vs just on the CD player.

Thank you Micheal for the Guided Meditations, i'm very visual and they are an awesome gift! I work with Palliative Care patients some times and have encouraged a few to use meditation to help manage their pain. Its nice to have all the topics you've covered to solidify my views and what i'm trying to impart.

Hi Work in Progress !

I know what you mean with the falling asleep !
I started meditation to find a cure for insomnia, and meditation calmed me down so much I kept falling asleep all the time.

I finally forced myself to sit in the Lotus position ( well, half Lotus, I am not a very flexible person :P ) and sitting up straight helped a lot.

Also, keeping your eyes half closed instead of entirely closed may help as well.
Be sure not to fix your sight on anything, try to "widen" your view to see everything instead of one thing.

And if nothing else helps, try to go to bed one hour earlyer every day, and use your meditation to fall asleep earlyer keep doing that for a week and you will be so wonderfully rested that meditation sessions will become easyer

Oh, btw, meditation for pain management is a wonderfull thing, and I have heard of a "trick" that has brought much benefit for people with continuing pain:

Make them focus on the pain during meditation !
However, don't make them focus on pain in this way: Ooh that spot is very sore, gosh that hurts a lot, I am really suffering, man it is intolerable...

That would be wrong as it enhances the pain.

Instead, make them try to observe the pain "from a distance" see that the pain in the leg is only in the leg, not in the entire body, try to make them see the entire body and show where the pain is located as for instance a red light coming from the sore spot.
Now, make them accept the fact that the pain is there.
Fighting the pain makes the pain worse, accepting it fully makes the pain less.

Make them say in their mind during meditation: I accept this pain, it is there and I know that it will stay no matter what I do. Therefor I accept it. I smile at my pain, in a loving, kind way, like I would do to a small child.
I accept it fully as a part of my life.

this way, they will focus on their pain in the same way that they would focus on their breath or a mantra during meditation.
Suddenly the pain is much better to tolerate.

Hope it helps !

Smile Pain Management

Hi Edwin,

thanks so much for those different techniques. It seems that when we acknowledge and accept pain for what it was intended as...meaning a tool to tell us when something is not as it should be in our body, then it does become more manageable. Thanking our body for doing the right thing rather than fighting it is a way to find peace through pain. Our physical body is an amazing thing that we do not respect enough in modern life and its undeniable connection with the energy that is our soul is something I am learning to value much more as I get older.

Harmony between all things in our lives...that is what I desire for myself and for my children. That is true success I think. Its why I've signed up for lifeflow

Initially I was really suspicious of NLP because of the "American" propaganda and hype that came with the first sample i ever applied for. I never listened to it because I really felt that a company that respected me and that had a worthy product would not need to push so hard and the risk of them doing the wrong thing...just didn't feel they were trustworthy. I found Lifeflow after my GP suggested NLP and I didn't want to go back to the other mob. Michael feels more real in my gut, and I'm trying to learn to trust my gut! I hope I find that the time spent is worthwhile! I certainly feel that meditation has helped me a lot!!!

Default Thank you

Thanks Mark for your encouragement...time will tell. I am certainly enjoying lifeflow 10 and finding it relaxing. I'm having an easier time settling my unsettling automatic thoughts as well. Onwards and upwards!!
