It was a bit like that in the workshop.
When I was there, there were some people who "got it" and some people who just "didn't see the point".
I thought I'd "got it", but since then I realised that I had only partly "got it" and had a moment of realisation that now means I know I've truly "got it". I also believe some of the other people there who thought they'd "got it" had in fact only partly "got it", and conversely some of the people who thought they hadn't "got it" had in fact "got it" as much as those who believed they had, but perhaps recognised there must be more to it i.e. there must be a point to it.

(Hope that made sense )

In summary, I can say that, in my own terms, it's a "scientific" set of experiments that allow us to verify for ourselves that we a) have a True Self and b) that our True Self is the same as everyone elses True Self and we are in fact all One. But it's more than that.... in fact it's not just scientifically proving this within our knowledge, but actually allows us to experience this Oneness first hand (as if Oneness could be experienced any other way hehe! )

The workshop was very good at explaining the experiments and made it enjoyable to do them, but I felt it missed actually getting around to connecting us all to what the real point of it all was. I guess, in some sense, it is up to the individual to make that connection. Richard Lang did make it a very enjoyable day.

Hugs

Giles

Glad to hear you got so much out of it Giles. I liked your 'didnt see the point' which begs the question what were they pointing with

Seeing this way is too obvious in fact and i guess thats why for some, because the ego is generally looking for something so mystical and grand to add to itself, it chooses to overlook it. Your quote in a post recently regarding the awakening experience of BM1988 was spot on 'There is nothing as obvious as being present' I like that, but so obvious and ordinary sometimes that perhaps we do overlook it.

Seeing of course is something that has to be practised because in effect the experiments are very dynamic meditations. Some people 'get it' then say right 'Whats next. Was that it ?' Anyway glad you got it !

I think Richard Lang is mindful not to lay beliefs on people and your post suggests that you have personally evaluated your own experience and made those connections relevant for yourself at this time. I know that since i came across the Headless Way things such as the Heart Sutra and many Zen koans make much more 'sense'
