Thinking or Not
Quick Question
I catch myself thinking, this is good, it allows me to filter thoughts.
But I also catch myself not thinking! is this good ?
Is it awareness catching not thinking ? If I was truly aware of not thinking then why would the awarness I'm not thinking come up,
its not a thought or is it? by that last statement I mean no words or visuals arise to say "Hey your not thinking" Just a clear space.
Added by Edit:
I believe I've got it,
I’m not aware that I'm not thinking, because in awareness it doesn’t matter. I only become responsive when mind catches on that I’m not having any thoughts
Peace

Actually, this is a perfect example of how mind can create work for itself
Thoughts arising or not, who cares ?
They arise when they do, and they don't arise when they don't.
Nothing you can actively do about it anyway.
However when you start thinking about if you notice it or not, you are engaging your mind in extra activity. And in this case it is even more ironic because you are thinking about not-thinking
Let it go, stay with the stillness within, and be that stillness, no matter how much noise the mind makes. There is no need to react or focus on thoughs except when you want it to. Obviously you wanted to focus on this, or you would not have made it so hard on yourself
Oh, and about this one:

You ARE aware that you are not thinking.
You see, you can only notice thoughts or no thoughts in awareness.
Awareness is aware of everything, your thoughts, what your eyes see, what your skin feels, what you hear and smell...
But when you focus on not-thinking, mind becomes active and tries to help you with thoughts that might be of interest for you. As long as you focus on thoughts, they will keep coming.
Thoughts are not evil, they are useful. Well, some are, and some are not.
Those that aren't useful should be ignored, and thoughts that are useful deserve your focus.
That's all there is to it.

Haha great question. A thought asks himself if he is a good thing or not. The thought about good and bad is also a thought. So there are three thoughts, one giving a motivation to ask, one asking if the other thought is good or not, and one is the thought we´re talking about.
To say it in Mooji´s words... why not drop them all in the first place?

Indeed, the cycle of thoughts appears to be endless if you take that road.
Can a thought in itself be bad/evil, or does it only become so through another thought that says that the original thought is evil? But this other thought that points to the first one being evil, is it in itself evil? Would it again require another thought to point this thought as evil, etc? It seems, that through this logic evilness of anything is ever-elusive. Is evilness only this interaction of one thought pointing towards the existence of another thought as malicous? Are you following this?

Yes it is very easy to get caught up in the fantasy that you getting somewhere. I recently had some very good clear days, quite serene, but by mid-week the clarity had clouded and I was looking for reasons. This was the mistake, if things are good allow them to be, if things are bad allow them to be. The serenity will always be there in awareness.

Mooji certainly has a way, quite humorous, with a warm quality.
I recently spent a day with Gangaji but she didn’t really connect, her answers to inquiries were sincere and made good sense, but rather formulated. She did state that she wasn't a teacher or guru, but the adoring ladies in the satsang would have me believe otherwise
Peace

Hi Edwin,
Yes, I inquired why I was always searching and trying this method and trying that technique.
Her answer inspired this post.
