Default Does everyone turn to God because they can no longer hold their problems?

It happened to me. I already surrendered myself to God when I can't finally bear the pain that life brought me. But it is a kind of hypocrisy telling all your problems to God in order to relieve yourself to pain. It's a kind of using God in vain. Am I right?

I think many people do this when they face so many challenges and life seems too tough Volcom and I would never judge them. I do think it's great to give thanks everyday also to God, the Universe or whatever people believe in.

There is so much to give daily thanks for yet sometimes this can be blinded by a state of mind. The thing to remember is a state of mind is only temporary.

The U.S. Dollar bill has written on it "IN GOD WE TRUST"

I personally "believe like it all depends on God and act like it all depends on me" That way I am still responsible and we make a great team together.

I've copied the following and hope it is of some help to you:-

DESIDERATA

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass.

Take kindly to the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with wild imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

Strive to be happy.

DON'T QUIT

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road your trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and its turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When they might have won, had they stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victors cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when your hardest hit,
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit!

I wish you much peace and joy

I don't think it's hipocritical or "using" God. I'm not a believer in "God" in the Christian sense myself, but I think there is definitely room for having faith in something that can make you see that nomatter how bad things get, there is always going to be something better coming along, even if things have to get worse first.

In my own frame of reference, God is my true Self, the oneness of everything that is inherently Me. Having faith in my true Self has allowed me to observe the 'bad' things from afar and have the awareness that they are not truly Me; as if I'm observing them, then I can't Be them. This was very helpful last year when I had excrutiating pain from a Kidney Stone and ended up in hospital. Recognising my True Self and being able to observe the pain as something relating to the body (which I was also observing) allowed me to recognise that the pain was not Me. Yes the pain of the body needed dealing with, but it didn't stop me from being my True Self; from being that observer. The observer simply didn't change and I know it cannot change.

That's not abusing the faith in God, that's precicely the whole true purpose of God.

Hugs

Giles

Being at one (whatever label one chooses for the "oneness") is a choice that we have the freedom to make. That very same freedom allows us to make many life decisions.

If we choose to put our hand on the hot plate, it has consequences. If we choose to put our hand in the cooling water of a mountain lake as we lazily drift on a canoe, it too has consequences. Some decisions result in nourishment and growth. Other decisions injure and harm.

It took a while for this Soul to recognise the differences between hot plate and cool mountain lake type decisions in their various manifestations.

Choosing doesn't have to be surrender (implying threat or duress). The hand is always available to be extended - with or without pain. That is the Grace of Freedom.

Hi Volcom23

I remember how comforting it was to know that I am not alone, that at least GOD loved and accepted me. In my opinion, itís OK to find comfort in GOD when you are feeling week and helpless. We all need a God (spiritual practice) until we realise that we donít need one.

The Buddha said : ĒNo one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one mayĒ

Love,
Ramai

No, it is not in vain. You can turn to God with impunity. You cannot overwhelm or offend him with your little problems. No matter what you say to him, he will still be looking out for your best interests. One day, you will be like that too. After all, when I say that you were created in God's image, I don't mean that God is some guy. I mean that you are not. Your true nature. God is not a figment of your imagination - you are a figment of your imagination.
