Default What are you reading

Hi All,

I recently put down a book by Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor - My Stroke of Insight.
The book describes the event and her subsequent lengthy recovery from a massive stroke. If you are interested in the right side / left side hemisphere debate, this is a good start. It also opened my eyes to the suffering of stroke victims.

I have just started The Wise Heart by Jack Kronfield, Buddhist Psychology for the west. I like Jack's easy manner, I think this will be a good read.

I'm also on my second visit to The Quiet by Paul Wilson. This is Highly Recommend.

I will leave you with the words of Shantideva:

May I be a guard for those who need protection
A guide for those on the path
A boat, a raft, a bridge for those who wish to cross the flood
May I be a lamp in the darkness
A resting place for the weary
A healing medicine for all who are sick
A vase of plenty, a tree of miracles
And for the boundless multitudes of living beings
May I bring sustenance and awakening
Enduring like the earth and sky
Until all beings are freed from sorrow
And all are awakened

That guy had style……………..

Currently, I'm reading "Journey to the West" by Wu Ch'eng En (better known in modern days as the tv series Monkey (or Magic Monkey in some countries)).

I have a whole stack of books yet to get though, not quite sure what's next on my list.
