I think Eckhart Tolle also said 'You need a meditation practice until you realize you dont'

The problems with statements like that are the easy misconceptions that can arise from them.

You need a meditation practice until you realize you dont
A lot of people here will read it as such:

"You need to practice meditation until you realise you don't have to meditate anymore"

But that is not what it says.
You need a meditation practice meaning for instance focus on the breath, focus on a mantra, until you realise that the state you are trying to reach through a practice is always there and can be accessed instantly, either during meditation practice or in daily life.

The Buddha kept on meditating until his death.

Absolutely Edwin and you are quite right to point that out and offer an alternative expression and perspective.

Meditation means a concentrated state of mind or to engage in mental exercise to reach at the highest level of spiritual awareness. It is a state of consciousness that brings serenity, clarity, and bliss. There are a lot of reasons for meditation such as for stress reduction, improved health emotional stability, positive thinking, and happiness and for success or quality of life.
