Now you've got me looking for an instructor. Its pronounced Ray-kai right? I watch alot of anime but I have more of an ear for Japanese then I do with writing. Ok wait it seems people say it ray-kee. I tried some hand positions and I felt it a bit and i never done it before now I'm really interested. So it seems to be the japanese version of qigong

Hi Teckniec,

Yes, it's pronounced Ray-Kee.

In qigong, the practitioner performs various exercises to build up the Qi energy within themselves and then that energy can be used, whether that's as part of the movement in Martial arts, Self healing or in healing others.
With Reiki, the practitioner is "attuned" by a Reiki Master/Teacher. This attunement is a short, almost ceremonial process where the student sits with eyes closed and the Teacher uses the "master symbol" and the other symbols to bring the student in tune with the energy (each attunement process itself lasts only 5-10 minutes, but may inolve some sitting in stillness beforehand etc.; the rest of the teaching relates to treating the self and others with Reiki).

Once attuned to Reiki the practitioner can simply place their hands where needed (or visualise if doing distant healing), and let the energy of the universe flow are required.

So, a qigong practitioner will build up energy and then use it and have to rebuild up more energy as their personal reserves become depleted. With Reiki, the practitioner is not having to build up reserves or use any of their own energy; in fact giving Reiki to someone else allows the Reiki to flow through the practitioner themselves and can be of benefit to the giver as well as the receiver.

I tried some hand positions and I felt it a bit and i never done it before now I'm really interested.
Yes, everybody has an ability to naturally use energy and feel it, if they're open to sense it, but this is likely to deplete your own energy system rather than tap into the universe of energy, unless you're one of the lucky ones with a natural ability to heal using universal energy.

Hugs

Giles

Hi Giles,

What is spiritual healing? I hope this is not a dumb question, It seems to me that there is a wide spectrum of energy levels that one can travel on their spiritual path. However the concept of "healing" within the spiritual realm seems foreign to me.

Thanks in anticipation...

Spiritual Healing is a seperate branch of healing that is very similar to Reiki (although don't let the Spiritual Healers hear me saying that, some get quite protective over it ). It involves more belief in the spirit world and has religious overtones involved in it, and tends to be a bit of a clique group from what others have said who've got involved. However, many people do do Spiritual Healing and find it works for them, so that's fine. It's a little more of a Western thing than Reiki.

Hugs

Oh OK. I was trying to understand how spirit can be ill or injured. If I understand you correctly, it is drawing on spiritual energy to heal in the physical (or emotional) realm.

Nothing but the best...

Yeah, it's often performed by people who attened spiritualist church. Whilst the Spiritual Healers (as a group/organisation) say that it's not related to any particular religion, which in truth it's not, you often find a common belief system in those who practice.

And, yes, they draw on spiritual energy, or more along the lines of asking spirits to come in and do the healing with them.

The forum I moderate on has a sub-forum specifically for Spiritual Healing discussions if you're interested to find out more... Spiritual Healing - Healthypages and there's even a thread on there which is specifically to do with your question: What's the difference between Spiritual healing and Reiki? - Healthypages (Blimey, I even answered on there myself back in 2006)

Hugs

Hello jada,

I am a kundalini reiki master and a pranic healer. Yes, its very powerful for anxiety. I work not with symbols, I make the thinks easyer for myself to give healing. I am aware and that is very important...

There is no time and space for me when I give healing to people!

Hope you understand my messages, my English is not so very good.

Greetings,

Liana
