Thanks once again for showing concern.
There is certainly nothing like an Earthquake or three. (6,863 and counting since Sept 2010) to bring you back to the present.If you’re interested here is Christchurch’s favourite website, Canterbury Quake Live Read the stats and see the quakes, quite unprecedented. The Geo techs are having a field day, the series of events are snowballing each major event awakens another fault-line and there seems to be no end.

Although what we are going through pails in significance to Japan or Haiti, but I can see a social stress that is taking its toll. Businesses gone, homes and a family life destroyed, we now have electricity, but no water or sewage again in our suburb, washing & flushing has become a luxury or if you are English and male you may understand if I say the 3 S’s.

From my story, I have lost 2 houses and a business, which is now taking a financial toll, as we still have to pay mortgages and with no work....

....I have to ask this question everyday...

Am I separate from the rest of life?

Is this consciousness which I truly am separate from the rest of life?
There is no one here named “Mark” there are no “fingers” typing.
This is not “Happening”
There are no “Earthquakes”
That is all a story of thought. Life is one inseparable reality in the now. There is no Mark here separate from the rest of what is occurring. You can see it when a quake strikes everything moves and everything stops, there is no separation, until the story of mind begins, Thoughts of family, getting to safety, cleaning up the mess from Liquefaction.

There is nothing that can be seen as an ending or a beginning either. The concepts of ending and beginning are of the past. They exist only in time, which is mind. When a quake strikes, there is no temporal separation, except through thought. There is only the unfolding present.

I am, not separate from life.... But try explaining that to my wife

As soon as you start to see that everything appears in you, denying it becomes pointless. Everything that happens points towards your conscious Self, just like every shadow points towards the sun.

When people say that "it isn't real", it doesn't mean that exactly, it means that everything that happens has a beginning, and thus an end. The only thing that never began, and thus never ends, is that which is watching the whole show. Situations will ultimately end.
Instead of distantiation from the world, you feel a deep responsability for everything and everybody that appears in you.

Having said that, I really hope that your financial problems will soon end. If there is anything I can help you with...

well put As we are out helping deliver water or digging out silt for the elderly neighbours, you may say why help if the silt doesn’t exist or John the neighbour is not there, we help because we are one, there is no separation the silt and neighbours are part of you and you are part of them. When we look close enough this is true compassion we help because we see no separation. Even those who cannot see, still help becasue of our true nature

I hope that makes sense.

Thanks again Olmate for you support, but as you rightly say, we have vulcanic ash above and masses of grey liquifaction now turning to dust below.
