Question Thoughts disappear to the void

Hello everybody,

I try as much as possible to "hold the moment", to stay aware. Part of this is "thought watch" habit that I developing.

Many times the moment I realize that I being "held" by my mind, the thought disappear to some sort of void.

Can someone explain please, why this happen? And why in this stage I'm unable to watch my thoughts?

Thanks a lot,
Leonid

Hi Leonid,

Sounds like you are being aware of your thoughts arising and being grabbed hold of by your conscious mind (from the unconscious mind where they arise). However, your awareness raises another thought (along the lines of "ooo, look at me all caught up in my thoughts, what is it I'm thinking about") but that in itself is a thought and you bring that to your conscious mind and it become the main focus, such that the previous thought is pushed back again. Whilst thousands of thoughts constantly arise in the unconscious mind, you can only really have one thought at a time in the conscious mind that has the attention. Putting conscious effort into watching thoughts just can't be done. You can be aware of thoughts arising in the unconscious and observe them all passing by, but you will not be able to consciously analyse a thought as you would need to have two conscious minds to to that.

Hope that help

Hugs

Giles

Hi Gile,

Indeed, one thought or experience creates chain of judgmental or thoughts of impression that related to the "root experience ".

I guess that raising the attention will decrease this pattern and increase the gap between the thoughts.

Thanks,
Leonid
