Another experiment leading into meditation
A path through the present moment into happiness.
To prepare copy these words and print them out:
ANGRY ANGRY ANGRY
FRUSTRATED FRUSTRATED FRUSTRATED
ANNOYED ANNOYED ANNOYED
CONTENT CONTENT CONTENT
HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY
ELATED ELATED ELATED
JOYFUL JOYFUL JOYFUL
To begin
1. Make a fist, really tight, feel the tightness then open your fist, relax, and feel the openness. Repeat 3 times. Focus on the sensations you just experienced.
2. For each of the above words as you repeat them three times notice sensations as they change in your body. Notice the subtle shift that occurs going up or down the list.
3. Concentrate on the word ANGRY and find a place (I call a trigger) that has the most closed tight body sensation for the word ANGRY. Next concentrate on the word JOYFUL and locate the most relaxed and open body sensation for the word JOYFUL (another trigger).
4. When you want to experience either emotion just tighten or open those places (like pulling the trigger of your choice). The more you practice this the easier and effective it becomes.
The triggers can be pulled any time you need them. Quietly during a meeting, before meditation whenever you become aware that you would prefer to shift your focus of awareness or mood (in either direction).
Enjoy
