Default love and meditation...

how does the power of love effect your meditation?
Is it something that strengthens it or weakens it?
I find that it can be very distracting for me and almost weakens it...
What does love do for you?

Hi Downtoearth,

Not sure what you mean by love.
Are you hinting at the conceptual physical love, the verb love?
These types of love are part of our experience, we learn to crave this type of love and this leads to suffering. Meditation will mellow the craving as a process of letting go.

When we open our hearts to true love, giving everything the space and compassion that is our true nature then meditation is a small but beautiful part of this spacious love.

One day I received an email from a family member. The email contained actual answers by four- to eight-year-old children to the question, “What is love?”
One particular boy answered,
“Love is what’s in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.”

You see children understand unconditional love. They are not confused like so many adults. How could something so wonderful interfere with meditation?

Peace

There is no way I could have said it better myself. I have read a few of your posts and I'm very impressed with how you nicely you word them. I would agree with this statement 100% as well. It is my belief that love is the key to spirituality, love is the essence of all being and is what bonds us all as one. Peace and love be with you all.

Hi Nimai,

Would you be surprised if I said they're not my words, but I'm simply presenting what arises out of what I have heard, seen or read at one time or another

Peace

Definitely, I do the same. Life is a constant lesson we all learn from through our actions and reactions (both our own reactions and that of our environment) and throughout this we will often be revealed much important information which is the journey to our "enlightenment". These lessons we learn through life we then share so hopefully many others will be guided by our advice and love we have to share. This I believe is the path of enlightenment (Bhakti Yoga, The path of love and devotion)...
