Default meditation/concentration

I have a serious problem, recentely i realised that i absolutely cannot concentrate at my classes. Its not something i recentely developed, however the problem is much greater since i moved to spain. In the UK i already had problems concentrating but because i mastered the language it wasnt such a big problem. Since i moved to spain and all my classes are in spanish and i need to concentrate all the time.I understand everything but the focus is still required, the problem is that literrary every minute i drift off and lose track of whats going on.
My question is is there a meditation techinque which helps with concetration in particular?
Also if you know any other tips how to improve concentration they will be very welcome.

Hi D2iekan, sorry for not responding sooner, but your question made me want to think this over for a while.

You see, Any meditation type is in essence a way to train your concentration. You un-learn to let your mind wander on it's own, and learn to focus because of it.

I checked in the free downloadable guided meditations, and the only one I found that seems to come close is this one:

Guided Meditation - Developing Mental Abilities

I am not sure if it will be of help, but it's the best I can do for now.

Let me know

Gidday D2iekan, its good that you observe stuff about youself, and address it. Enlighten Q is a total system based on learning to maximise focus and concentration, you might want to give that a look.

Whatever sytem you use, there is no substitute for practice. A simple one is finding what senses you prefer using. For instance, some people are visual, some sound based, some can use their imagination to focus on ideas easily, some are physical and like things like Tai Chi, Yoga etc. Say you like sounds, the idea is to sit somewhere comfortably, pick out one sound you wish to focus on, and do just that. When you find your attention wandering from the sound, you simply bring it back.

Its a good exercise at gauging just how much control you have over your mind, and seeing what the mind can do. A little bit like deciding to drive a car to the shop, yet, letting go of the steering wheel and allowing the car to go anywhere a rut in the road takes it. If we are not the mind, and the mind is our creation and tool, its good to have the ability to be fully aware of that, and to be the master of your tools, not visa versa.

All the best.

Not really in the vein of meditation, but there are little brain games available on the internet that exercise certain aspects of the brain, focus included I think. I recommend a site called Lumosity, which I've recently found. Hope that isn't against the rules of advertising for the forum.
