Smile Finding another mantra

I have just started using LF10, and can meditate along with the recordings, however I am feeling less and less that I would wish to use the mantra I was given for TM.

I am in the process of finding another one.

Anyone else had this question come up?

Not personally, but I know that people sometimes are not happy with the mantra they are using.

First things first, what are you not happy with your mantra? Is it because of the TM movement itself? or is it because you associate something negative with the mantra? or you just have trouble saying that particular mantra to yourself?

If it's because of the TM movement or something other that is negatively associated, why not keep using the same mantra, but come to recognise the negative feelings you are having and actively choose to let those feelings go as a part of your meditation.

Remember, the mantra is just a tool for initial focus to help you detract from other thoughts and assist in you getting deeper into the state of meditation. It doesn't need any meaning or associations attached to it, but if you find there are, You have the choice to let those things go.

Saying that though, if you really want to change your mantra, then by all means go for it. Find something you are comfortable with.... then let that comfort go.

Hugs

Giles

Giles, you are a wonder!

One quick question, why aren't you on Project-Meditation staff?

I also think I would like a mantra more suited to attracting abundance. I have a book full of them: Healing Mantras: Amazon.co.uk: Thomas Ashley-Farrand: Books

I personally would simply use a mantra that has no associations attached.
It's fine to use healing mantras and practice attracting abundance, but leave those for seperate meditation or healing sessions. For mantra based meditation, simply consider it to be a tool to help get down deeper into meditation. You don't really want something that holds you in the mind.

I struggled to find a Mantra I was comfortable with, for some reason when I imagined the Mantra and said it silently in my head I imagined me mouthing the word and quite often found myself struggling not to mouth it, this was very unsettling and I had to settle on a Mantra that could be chanted alound without any obvious shaping of the lips and mouth. (If that makes sense)
