Default Is meditating 5 times a week effective?

If I meditate just on weekdays (mon-fri) will it still be beneficial. If so how beneficial in comparison to doing it everyday?

Where exactly does the 2x a day, everyday, recommendation come from? Has there been scientific studies into which is the most effective meditation schedule?

twice a day each day I believe comes from Transcendental Meditation, but I think it also stems from any spiritual type practice from the East. As part of such cultures, it shows dedication and respect for the practice.

As for whether 5 days is as effective as 7 days, I wouldn't have a clue how you would quantify it. I guess the only thing you could do would be to try it yourself and see if you feel any difference. Personally, I know that, should I miss a session, I feel as if I've missed it (not that I let it bother me, but I know there is something different).

Hugs

Giles

I guess 5 times a week is always better than not at all.

Maybe you should try a simple 10 minute meditation in the weekend. Just once a day on saturday and sunday. Actually it should be like 13 minutes, give yourself the chance to "get into it" by sitting relaxed for one minute, and after meditation, do another 2 minutes before opening your eyes, just like the free course says.

10 minutes meditation is always better than no meditation.

I think everything needs to be taken “cum grano salis” (with a grain of salt). If meditation becomes a chore, or an obsession, then it ceases to be what it should be.
So ok with the concept of “being consistent”, but also let’s not introduce yet another source of pressure into our lives.
My two – newbie – cents.

Same for me! On the other hand, its sometimes good to pass 1 or even 2 days...its like giving my muscles after the workout a rest, to be even stronger after that
