Default Headache

With no previous experience in mediation and/or brain entrainment I
m experiencing headaches for 3 days now. It started on the left side, and it stayed there for a couple of days. It has moved to my right side today.

I would experience a headache very very rarely. I practically don't get them.
Since I started LF Sampler I have a headache, it's constant. I don't believe in pain killers as they mask the symptoms only but don't work on the real cause.

Would anyone have any suggestions or perhaps thought or explanation what might be going on.
I really would like to continue, and purchase the program, I enjoy the sounds on the Sampler, I'm curious what the other CD's do sound like.

Default Hello

Hi there,

I am also very new to meditation even newer to freeflow. The first weeks I meditated, I had those headaches u are asking about. I kind of perceived it as a resistance because I was trying to open some doors of consciousness that were never open before.

imagine you are a small baby who opens his eyes for the first time. I hurts... badly... Even if it is only light coming through your eyes.

I am sure it will pass soon.

Accept the headache like u accept your thoughts while u medidate. it also eases the process

greetings
C.

This happens quite a lot, so don't worry

When things happen a lot, usually they become part of the FAQ, as is the case here:

Project Meditation - Meditation Community - FAQ

You might encounter some other side-effects that may be covered by the FAQ.

Also, there is a nifty [ search ] button where you get a lot of results. For instance, I tried "headache" in the search button, and this is what I came up with:

Project Meditation Community Forum - Search Results

Of course, when it has not been covered in the forum or the FAQ, don't hesitate to ask

As well as Headaches being attributed to (issue) resistence, it is also possible that the cause could relate to "trying too hard". Often, people new to meditation will sit back, close their eyes and try too hard to meditate. This usually involves (mostly without realising it) moving the eyeballs to look upwards as far as they will go. This "looking upwards" can cause great strain on the eyeball muscles and can induce headaches.

With practice of meditation we can learn to let the eyes be relaxed and simply look ahead (even with the eyelids closed).

Hugs

Giles

And of course, it could be a coincidence. Nobody will squeal on you to the secret meditation police if you take a couple days off from the practice and see if the headache goes away. You would not want to miss a serious symptom because it accidentally happened just when you started meditation!

Hope you get well soon!
