Default Hard to concentrate with LifeFlow

Hi,

Ive just started with project meditation and after a week of "normal" meditation Ive tried the last few with the LifeFlow sample. I experience some almost unpleasant feelings when listening to Lifeflow (strong rapid eye movement) and find it almost impossible to concentrate on my mantra.

Is this normal and have other people experienced similar physical and mental effects when starting out with Lifeflow?

Thanks,

NN

Hi,
I also find it hard to concentrate on my mantra with all the noise of Life Flow. It's like trying to talk to myself during a storm. I try not to try too hard and just stumble through a bit. At a certain moment I don't bother too much any more. I feel I shouldn't try to carry out a perfect mantra meditation.
I also have unpleasant feelings sometime; they make me restless. I try to relax at those moments. I suppose this has something to do with releasing old stuff (as it is often called in these forums). It often goes away, sometimes because I just fall asleep.
regards
D

Hi and welcome
You could try experimenting with turning the soundtrack way down if you're distracted by the sounds. It's what I've done right from the beginning and it really helps. The restlessness and discomforts are just old stuff + resistance, just as you said.

I believe in the old saying, "The only way is through" We just mask our feelings and issues by distracting ourselves most of the time but once faced, it's remarkable how they fade away ...now or later.... Better out and dealt with than in and causing dysfunction and disease!

Here's to success on our cushions!

Hi Folks,
Another very helpful member of this forum posted this that aligns with volume reduction idea:

I came here as an experienced meditator and had trouble setting through the first couple of tracks after I'd been with them awhile. Hang on, I'm willing to bet LF7 will be different for you.
I never turn the volume up so far that I can hear the tracks very well. If the track music bothers you turn it down so you barely hear it. The entrainment will get you anyway. I promise!

One of many excellent posts that has helped this newbie (LF9)

take care
