Default new and trying to set goals...

I've been researching meditation on and off for nearly a year now and have come across chakra meditation. In my research I have read how chakras mediation can cause unpleasant side effects if you don't prep for it properly first and don't rush into it either. Does anyone know of any good mediation techniques/style that will help with preparing someone for chakras mediation? I've been doing breathing meditation for 3 weeks now and I'm interested in the more complex parts of meditation now. I just need someone to push me in the right direction. Any tips or hints are welcome.

well im not sure as to methods but one thing i have seen is whenever you meditate and focus your eyes and your senses on the spot between your eyes and count down from 100-0 it helps clear the mind a bit after the count down sit in the silence and just experience don't judge or get involved with them just experience from a 3rd person view

lotink what you just explained kind of sounds like opening of the third eye. Thats my long term goal but I worry about rushing into it. I've heard stories of what can happen if you rush into it, unless that is an exercises for it... How I've heard to open your third eye is similar but different. I read that your chakras should all be open before attempting to open your third eye.
