There's no evidence I've ever managed to source to suggest that this is possible, only a lot of New Age speculation and 'conceptual' ideas about it, even to the point of it being used to explain the disappearance of the Mayan cultures. Books such as The Celestine Prophecy (and the rest of that series by Jame Redfield) discuss a spiritual progression of awareness, which also includes the ability to raise one's awareness to a state where people become light and can literally traverse space and time. His literary style leaves a lot to be desired (he's not going to get a booker prize for his quality of authorship), but the story can keep you gripped and the concepts behind what he discusses are interesting and certainly sound feasilble... I guess it just needs to be put into practice to know if it's true or not (though if he's discovered this for himself, why is he still here? hehe!)
On a different track, Quantum physics shows that quantum entanglement of particles (particles being connected regardless of distance), nonlocality ('spooky action at a distance' as Einstein called it) and quantum superposition (quantum particles being in an unknown state until observed) are all real things at the microscopic level. So the intention of thought as an observation, in theory, can influence particles elsewhere i.e. intention/thought has the power to change the universe. However, to assume that this means it scales up to the macro level and we could change our physical body in such a way as to make it pure energy and break all the chemical bonds, whilst retaining consciousness, is perhaps taking it a bit too far; not to say that influence at a quantum level won't have some effect at the macro level though.
