Arrow Hi, new meditation rookie

Hey guys/gals,

I'm new to the whole meditation thing and would like some advice on how to get comfortable first. In other words, any breathing techniques would be much appreciated.

I've been studying a bit about meditation and my journey lead me here. I'm hoping from here I can develop meditation skills for that great deeper level of meditation.

As of right now, the only problem I have is my breathing and breathing techniques are welcomed. Please feel free to post your suggestions/advice. I look forward to developing my meditation skills, for future life prosperity and peace.

Thanks for your time!

There are some good links at the top of this board as to basic techniques. As to getting comfortable it's not easy in the early stages as the body doesn't automatically accept new regimes. Being comfortable is just what it says and is different things to different people. I use a chair that supports me and is in a quiet area of the house. It helps to be consistent with where you meditate.
Most people breath quite naturaly when at ease. It needn't bother you that you don't use a particular technique especially when relinquishing is at the core of meditation. Many people focus on the breath as an aid to avoid distraction but to focus on the technique is a distraction in itself in my opinion.
The most important thing is to meditate regularly (without overdoing it) and at set times determined by your lifestyle. In time you will reap the rewards of what is essentially self discipline.
