sever memory problems after Anxiety
I was suffering from anxiety before 1 year ago ... & after taking some basic actions like exercise , healthy foods , listening to lifeflow , I'm now almost recovered from anxiety ... i can say 90% ...
but i'm having problem in remembering things ..
I sometimes forget names of things that are part of our daily routine , or name of people that I meed daily , but after sometimes it brought back again in my mind without any effort ,,,
English is my second language , & while writing something i forget spellings of very common words that not even a child can forget ...
I am increasingly forgetful. we all forget the occasional birthday. we all fudge a detail or two. or have to ask again about something someone explained a week earlier. this happens a lot to me.
I have been told by more than one friend that I have a tendency to ask the same question more than once over the course of a few hours. I forget details they have told me. I notice myself that I have to force myself to stay concentrated more so than I used to have to. I have to keep myself from skimming over documents and I have trouble remembering so much as a license plate or what I was going to get from the supermarket. I suppose you all know what it's like to forget that one thing you meant to buy there. that happens to me all the time.
I am not sure what is going on. I am only 19 , healthy .
If i'm not wrong this started in the same period when anxiety started .. I was thinking that this is because of anxiety & I'll be normal again after recovering from anxiety ..... But I'm noticing that this problem is increasing day by day ....
I'm pure multitasking person ..... I never do one thing at a time .. but i don't thing this can lead to forgetting names of things or spellings etc ...
I had not taken any medications for anxiety .... is there any chemical reactions is going in my mind because of anxiety ... ?
Or this is something else serious ...!
Please help is needed ...!!

Hi Rahul,
At first you should visit a neurologist, to make the physical aspect clear. Besides that i could imagine that its stress related. Ever tried autogenic training? I tell myself every day how i feel, and it works
Theres also a medication called Galantamine, maybe you have heard of it before. Its used for Alzheimer deseases, but dont let that scare you, it is pure herbal and people without Alzheimer use it also for enhanced lucid dreaming. Its main purpose is to strengthen your capacity for remembering. Maybe that could help as a temporary solution in low doses. But on the long run, youŽll probably have to change your lifestyle, but thats just my guess.
Atb,
Phil

I have already changed my life style very much & that's why i'm almost free from anxiety ... but i have read somewhere that anxiety spreads cortisol hormone that causes some effect on memory ... but this still effects after recovering from anxiety ? because i have not taken any medications for anxiety ...

Hi Rahul,
first of all, I'm pleased to hear that your lifestyle changes have helped you so much with your anxiety Sometimes, life can be really busy and the neurons in the brain can become agitated, causing the brain to become tired. This may be the cause of your forgetfulness. There are solutions to naturally solve this so try not to worry or you may possibly become more agitated. The first step is for you to answer the following questions if you will:-
Can you tell me how often and when you listen to LifeFlow?
Also, do you meditate or relax while listening?
Do you have the Gamma tracks "Awaken" and "Nirvana"?
I note that you say you are 19, healthy and always a multitasking person. Perhaps your body is simply letting you know you need to slow down a little.
Here's a little piece I have copied from the link below regarding memory.
Increased Relaxation
Dr. Margaret Patterson has shown that certain frequencies in the brain dramatically speed up production of a variety of neurotransmitters. A 10 Hz (alpha) signal boosts the production and turnover rate of serotonin, a chemical messenger that increases relaxation and eases pain, and catecholamines, vital for memory and learning, respond at around 4 Hz (theta).
If you check out the chart in the following link you will see how your body is able to naturally regulate various hormones and neurotransmitters such as anti-cortisol by meditating or resting in specific frequencies:-
Brainwave States
I will look out for your reply and with a little communication, I'm certain that your forgetfulness will soon be no longer an issue
In the meantime, I wish you much peace and joy

Ok, i didnt quite get how your lifestyle is atm. I dont know about the relationship between cortisol and forgetfulness, i never experienced that kind of forgetfulness though i suffered a long time, like you, from anxiety.
As always, my answers are only suggestion, and the few cents of knowledge i have

Hello Rahul
I have suffered with anxiety as well and I can tell you that forgetfulness is part of the anxiety experience. My advice to you is to stop multitasking and focus on one thing at a time. Give your nerves a break! In my humble opinion, multitasking is dehumanizing. When you're multitasking you simply cannot be in the present moment, the now. I also control my anxiety through diet and meditation. I've changed the type of music that I listen to and I don't spend a lot of time reading the news anymore. Hope that helps! Hang in there, you're not alone in this.

Hi Rahul,
I can sympathize with your description of your memory loss.
I have also posted a thread on here that sounds very similar to this.
I'm sure there could be a whole bunch of reasons why this has happened.
A theory I had was that perhaps during the period of anxiety, the mind is very focused on retaining information and this information is constantly being brought up by the mind. The information is worried about/analyzed and reanalyzed over and over until it is implanted firmly in the memory.
With meditation practice, the mind becomes calm, and this process slows down. We worry less and the thoughts of the mind are no longer focused upon, as intensely. The mind may have relied upon this as a way of forming memories, and now that it has changed it will have to find a new way.
For a period of time after I started meditation I would completely forget conversations I have had only a day earlier. But with continued meditation, I have kept the same level of awareness, yet now I know what information to retain and which information I should just remain of.
This may just be a load of pseudo-psychology, it makes sense to me, but that doesn't mean it's correct. Just a thought.
Otherwise, in the meantime, while you are trying to figure out what has changed. Try not to worry about this difference in your memory. One part of your life has changed recently and so you should expect there to be a changes in other parts of your life, that may have carried on from earlier events.
Don't ignore it, but don't worry about it. See how things go

thanks for inspiration & help ...
from few months I have stopped meditation and listening lifeflow completely because of busy schedules ... actually i started meditations only to overcome my anxiety ... I was thinking that I will start it later again when i'll be free ...
I tried meditation , never done successfully .... my mind always been flooded with thoughts . before , while or after meditation ... I was just trying to do ... but even I recovered from anxiety ... may be only because of life flow ... I was listening lifeflow mostly during night for 2-3 hour ....
yes I have these two tracks "Awaken" , "Nirvana" ....

Hi again Rahul,
You may find that playing Awaken or Nirvana when you are on your computer helpful. Or you could play them quietly while you lie down and relax with some slow and gentle deep breathing (even ten minute sessions)
Also, if and when you decide to meditate again, here is a link that may help you with your busy thoughts:-
Principles of Meditation & Entrainment
If you have any questions, please ask
I wish you much peace and joy
