Question Feels like I l lost myself

I've been using LF10 for a few weeks now and continue to get dramatically different experiences. I always get the feeling that my eye lids twitch when listening to LF and seem to get thrown in memories that are very vivid for a while until I feel like I am thrown out into nothingness for a while before being thrown back into a new memory while others pass easily. I am usually very stressed and the problem I'm getting is that my once busy mind is now silent while my brain seems to be unlocking memories during meditation and I just feel different and uneasy now. Sometimes I feel great after meditation and other times I just feel lost and more panicked like I lost myself. Is this a normal process that my corrupted brain is throwing at me while dealing with extreme emotions that meditation is springing up? Some guidance would be very generous.

Hello Max,
What you describe are quite normal reactions in the early stages of meditation. You are trying to impose a new regime and the old is trying to maintain it's dominance. As you deal with recent issues older ones will come to the fore. Your brain will throw anything and everything at you to justify it's existence and will not take "no" for an answer. That is it's purpose, it is not corrupted, it just needs to know it's place.
After some time you will manage not to react and that is when meditation pays off. This state can be quite frightening in itself as the mind starts to imagine dangers that arise from nothing more than unfamiliarity with the new circumstances. Nobody ever came to any harm from thoughts alone and the safety mechanism in meditation returns you to everyday life the moment you feel threatened. Don't let meditation itself put any further stress on you. It is the safest mechanism you have available to you to explore your inner self. It's silence can be unnerving to the mind due to the lack of stimulation but in time you will become familiar with this place of rest and be able to reap it's benefits.

Good luck in your future meditations. It sounds like you're already getting some success without actualy realising it.

I would personally recommend discontinuing LF. I have sampled it and frankly, I am a bit concerned about its effects on individuals. Your reactions are not unheard of and you would be doing yourself a favor by not using it.

On what basis can you make that statement? Have you researched the effects of Lifeflow on individuals? Do you have some statistics you can share?

Seems odd to just dismiss something so outright otherwise.

Hugs

Hello iciek,

I'm relatively new to LF, so by means no expert. In the beginning of my practice my experience was very similar to yours. I feel that this is simply an adjustment by the brain to something new. Over time it balanced itself out. I feel that LF is absolutely safe and beneficial. Take it slow and enjoy the process.

I have cut down my meditation time for a while and it did get better. I am now on my first week of lf 9 and have began to be able to meditate for longer periods of time. I do notice more times of a quiet mind and also my stress reducing greatly. I have been reading power of now which helped me see how my minds thoughts controlled me and constantly stressed me out. I feel like i'm finally being able to live, while thoughts and my brain still control me I feel how its grip is loosening which I hope to break with more meditation and lf.

Hi Max,
I have just spent time reading this thread and am really pleased to hear that your stress is reducing greatly.

Here are a couple of links which should put your mind (and anyone else's for that matter) at rest:-

Principles of Meditation & Entrainment

Brainwave States

I would just like to add the following from my own experience and hope this is of help to you

You can read in other threads how meditating with LifeFlow has completely transformed my life over the last few years, just as it has many others.

What I am aware of often, is the fact that many people are simply unaware of the busy thought patterns that are constantly going on in their mind - they think this is who they are. When they attempt to meditate they suddenly become aware of all these thoughts and this can seem quite startling.

For those who are aware of the constant looping of thoughts (often anxious, worrysome or regretful ones) they may have already begun to realise that they can control their thoughts rather than be a slave to them. This realisation is what set me on my personal quest to learn to meditate initially. Many people play music, have the T.V. on, even though they are not watching it (they have told me they do it for company) I imagine this is probably a way to drown out busy thoughts but this is only my guess.

Meditation or resting in the quiet state within is really so natural and beneficial. Unfortunately in the fast paced life most of us live, this sanctuary has become forgotten by the majority. It seems normal to see crowds of people rushing here and there, with phones to their ears while they are dashing about shopping or worse still, while they are driving vehicles or stuck in traffic queue's.

It's no wonder at some point in people's life, they just feel like shouting "Stop the world, I want to get off!!" or some want to escape what they call "the ratrace"

We cannot all escape to the country (and some probably wouldn't want to do either) but we can all escape the fast paced modern life for a few minutes a day and rest within the quiet within to enable us to deal with the chaos and challenges of modern day life. We can all learn to "Stop and smell the roses" along the way.

The devastating effects of modern day stress are silent and build up gradually, creating social anxiety and all kinds of dis-eases for both young and old. The endless benefits of meditating a little time each day with LifeFlow are cumulative and allow the mind, body and spirit to rejuvenate and restore themselves as they are intended to do.

I wish you an abundance of peace and joy on your continuing journey
