Default Need to know if my meditation is going in right way

Hi,

i have started doing meditation on a daily basis for nearly 1 month now and during morning only. i just wanted to know if i m doing meditation properly.

what i m observing these days is - there is a particular sitting posture in which i m hearing a sound in my ear something like 'zuuuu - zuuuu- zuuuu- ...' . This sound is heard only in my right ear. This sound is heard only when my head, neck, shoulder are in particular position - if i tilt my head slightly, the sound is gone and when i move my head back into that position, the sound again comes.

Just wanted to know - what this sound is? this sound i donot find disturbing and if i try to map it using my brain, i sometimes can map it to AUM sound. So should i try to sit myself in meditation in this position so that i can hear this sound - or when this sound comes, i should move my head to stop this sound?

I m observing on my breath. Please help, if u had such experience.

Hi misecmisc,

I experienced the same a few times in my life. Weird, isnt it?
I cannot explain it, but i didnt care about it too much.

Observing your breath is a good thing to do. You could consider chosing a mantra, which is working great for many people. But thats a personal taste i guess.

Id suggest to not pay too much attention to the sound, as it is just a distraction from your focus. Just let it happen, like your thoughts happen.

Atb,
Phil
