Default Meditation Anxiety at Work

I have trouble relaxing at work. The problem is I can't put on headphones or my boss will notice. So, I've been logging onto YouTube and watching meditation videos (not guided as the audio would give me away), just calming images of nature. An example is by nature escapes. They have this calming video of waterfalls and natural water sounds I turn on ever so slightly: NATURE ESCAPES : Cascading Creek (relaxation meditation) - YouTube

I put this one on and stare at the computer screen. I seriously forget where I am for a few minutes. Oh, there's this one too that I love: NATURE ESCAPES : Sunset Beach (relaxation meditation) - YouTube

Anyone else have some tips for meditating at work?

I would recommend analyzing why you believe work brings you so much stress.

Work is not the place for meditation. Indeed it can bring on more stress as you are effectively stealing your employer's time. Meditate on the causes of stress at work when at home. Indeed there's not a lot to it provided you are honest with yourself.

Having identified the main players in the stressfull situation place them on a stage (in your mind's eye) and have them act out whatever is causing stress. You have to retreat to the audience and watch before being critical of the players. It should be very easy to see where the stress is coming from when you detach yourself from the situation. Understand what is being asked of whom and where is the stress coming from. The resolution should be obvious if you cease to be emotionaly involved. I always prayed for the resolution of my problems to the satisfaction of all players. Such circumstances rarely lasted more than three days. In most cases they were resolved within 24 hrs.
You will never see clearly whilst emotionaly involved especially if it's you that has to bring about necessary changes.

Default meditation at work

I would agree with iciek that using headphones, lifeflow or computer programmes at work would be counter productive and lead to more stress in case you are found out doing something your boss would disapprove of.

However, meditating at work is a great thing to do and a great, in the moment stress reliever. You need no headphones, programmes etc.

When stress mounts, just lower your eyes, take a deep breath, hold it just for a moment and then let it go. As you let it go - a bit slower than normal, and without sound, then let the body relax. Especially relax your jaw and your shoulders. Put a half smile on your face - even if it feels fake.

This takes seconds, will not interfere with work, will help you to be more productive and can be repeated ad infinitum without any harm.

peace and joy
H
