Smile My first Life flow meditation

it's about 30 years since I last meditated seriously and had become indolent on the back of some successes. A family came along and it was just too easy to be distracted. Now the children have grown up and left I found the opportunity to meditate once again. However the discipline of the past had long gone and it was no easy task as memories of previous meditations distracted and held me back.
I enrolled in the life flow program without any great conviction but with the thought of at least trying as every effort brings reward.

This morning I did my first Lifeflow 10 meditation. For a first attempt I was astounded at how effective it was. It was the kickstart I needed, and what a kick. From a let's give it a try attitude I now eagerly await a new regime of daily meditation. The excitement of the "new" experience obviously held me back in terms of what is possible to achieve and I expect a few more days of "bedding in" before real progress is made. I am currently not in the best of health but the rejuvination I experienced was thrilling to say the least.

Here's to a long and fruitful association.

Hi Iciek and welcome to the community

I'm so pleased you are enjoying LifeFlow. Over time, I'm sure you will become aware of the many benefits of a little regular meditation. The bonus tracks Creative Flow and Optimal Learning are really good too - I've played Creative Flow for years while working at my computer, during business meetings, creative play with my grandchildren and for relaxation for family pets. You can listen to these tracks whenever and as long as you like - just not while driving a vehicle. Look forward to hearing about your continued success and wish you much peace and joy

Hi Iciek...

I was in a similar position to yours when I returned to meditation: basically, 25-30 years since I meditated regularly. And with some health issues, too. So it was interesting to read your first note.

Here's my take, so far, on LifeFlow. In meditation terms, it's a bit like riding an escalator. Without the tracks, on our own, we can either move towards a deeper state, or not. But, with LifeFlow, the tracks themselves are "moving" towards a deeper state. So, even if you just "sit there" -- (which, of course, is exactly what we SHOULD do) -- the tracks will carry you deeper.

This does NOT mean, of course, that listening to LifeFlow automatically creates a true "meditative state". It does not. If you put on the track just to relax, or take a nap, then that's what will happen. But, in meditation, LF10 and the others, really do help, taking you to the edge of a "meditative state". Whether you get there or not, is up to you.

The other great thing is they provide a wonderful "cocoon" in which to meditate. They just shut out the world, for me, and create an ideal environment to drift inward.

The open question, to me, is whether the "lower tracks" -- LF4, LF3, etc. -- confer any more benefits than the higher ones. That's a debate only a few, here, can really have. As only a minority have gone "all the way" to LF1. (I would be interested in any comments from the "veterans", on that.)

Here's one tantalizing tip for the future: In my humble opinion, LF7 is an absolutely perfect meditation track. I'm utterly in love with it. No matter what else I try, I always come back to LF7 as to a beloved "home".

Please keep posting. I, for one, am very interested in your progress.

Smile Lifeflow tracks

My favourite is Lifeflow 2 with 4 and 6 close contenders.
I generally don't notice any differences now in my meditation whether with different tracks or when meditating without.

Sometimes the external noises when I am meditating are a bit distracting - the tractor revving hard next door, the apples donking on to the roof of the summerhouse, the four dogs next door starting up the symphony - then it is a blessing to put on the earphones and have waves breaking instead!

When I do notice a difference is when I know I am a little agitated, then a Lifeflow track helps the settling process - I'll often use 6 for this and sometimes 10 or 7.

If I am reading a books around meditation topics, I often put on a Lifeflow track on open speakers so I meditate while I am reading.

Classical Magic is often playing while I am busy with housework or spinning or cooking.

I'm so grateful to Michael to have these resources that I can use whenever I choose.

peace and joy

This is an interesting question. For me I see my meditation practice as a daily routine on my life journey. So completing the Lifeflow course is akin to a "skill building" process. Those words probably are not right in what I am trying to convey - but will have to suffice.

Perhaps another context is that Lifeflow has been an aid to my daily practice rather than the focus of the practice. In that sense it is difficult to separate whether progress is as a result of having Lifeflow incorporated into that practice or just as a result of the practice itself. Intuitively my sense is that the practice itself is the primary reason for the life experience journey. However this in no way diminishes the value I personally attach to Lifeflow. I am a fan.

Nothing but the best....

Olmate

Hi there Didreyfus and welcome to the community

the LifeFlow 40 minute download tracks just give you options. You can meditate for 5, 10, 20 or 40 minutes - whichever you prefer. If you are new to meditation and/or entrainment, then it will initially take you about 8 minutes to entrain to the desired state for meditation.

However, once you become familiar with this state of consciousness, you will entrain in less and less time. Having used LifeFlow for 4 years plus, I can enter a meditative within seconds, making 5 minute meditations very beneficial.

That being said, I almost always meditate to LifeFlow for 40 to 60 minutes a day but this is just my choice. I am 58, have a very busy life and I really value this special time out which has afforded me many, many benefits. The forum has a wealth of knowledge and people always willing to offer you help and support. I hope this helps and wish you much peace and joy

Hi Bryan,

your question has made me think how good it would have been to keep notes. Not copious notes, just a few milestone markers perhaps. For instance, I will never forget the first time I meditated to LF7 and how amazing it felt yet I cannot remember what level I was at when I first learned to observe supressed emotions and let them go. For the longest time LF7 was one of my favourites and surprisingly to me, LF1 was for a while and definately Creative Flow (when working)

Then came Nirvana which I am using everyday for both meditating and working.

One of the most refined (for want of a better word) changes for me was to realise exactly when I had had just enough to eat and I have posted about this in the past. I think it happened a couple of years ago and think that I had meditated with all the LF tracks including Nirvana. It may sound silly or minor but it's actually wonderful to never eat a morsel too much. I was thrilled to sleep well again and letting go of supressed emotions felt like atlas being relieved of the weight of the world. Problem solving, not reacting were things I hoped and expected to happen, however the eating just enough was an unexpected surprise for me. I have never had huge meals, but it is so easy to have that bit too much at christmas etc. when there is an abundance of special treats.

Meditation hasn't cured me of going off on tangents though -sorry Bryan

With regard to the deeper levels, I can see the importance of spending time with each level and how each level builds a foundation for the next deeper one. I think very few long term and dedicated meditaters would be able to reach the lower states of consciousness without the well structured system of LifeFlow. Each of the levels have their own benefits - the chart in the brainwave state section, displays the delta states are the only ones where melatonin is released and much repair goes on within the body.

I wish you an abundance of peace and joy on your continuing journey
