Default please help me out finding the right path

so my objective is to enter deep meditative state
and i have read a lot on how to achieve it but i still have a doubt

i have noticed that when i close my eyelids and thoughts come to my mind its easier to observe them.
but when i close my eyelids and apply a little pressure over them, when thoughts come to my mind i almost instantly form part of them. And so this is the way to fall asleep.

i know i must hit the point between sleep and wake ,so that would be the second option, but somehow i feel the first one is the right one.

hope someone help me out and understand what i am talking about.thanks

Hi Lacho and welcome to the Project Meditation community,

What sort of meditation are you practicing?
Have you downloaded the free Discover Meditation course from this site? It contains everything you need to learn how to meditate.

Firstly, I would say that if you have an "objective" or "goal" then you will be putting your focus on trying to achieve that goal, and that will only create thoughts and worries in your mind that will prevent you from reaching the meditative state effectively. In that respect it is better to simply meditate and experience what happens... sometimes it will be a good deep meditaiton... other times it will be a meditation with many distractions. Simply accept that.

Also, if any thoughts arise during meditation, you should simply observe that they are there and acknowledge them, then let them go. It is when you get involved in the thought that you become distracted from the meditation practice.

Hugs

Giles
